Good morning... here's the latest news on the homebuyer tax credit...
The House of Representatives has approved legislation that would extend and expand the credit.  The House vote comes after the Senate voted yes on Monday night, and while there is more work to be done, word has it that an agreed upon bill should reach President Obama for his signature by the end of this week. 
Under the proposal, individuals with income up to $125,000 a year and couples earning up to $225,000 would be eligible for the credit.  The extension would cover homes under contract by April 30th and … (0 comments)

TEXAS DEPT. OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY AFFAIRS  
PURPOSE: To allow the consumer to take advantage of recent legislation by receiving a short term loan prior to filing for and receiving the federal first time homebuyer tax credit.  
KEY POINTS:  
1. 5% of the first lien mortgage amount up to a maximum of $7,000 for down payment and/or closing costs.  Must be used with FHA financing.  Primary residence only.

1)      Great news for mortgage interest rates:
a.       The Fed has just announced they will buy $750 BILLION more in mortgage bonds (this is on top of the $500 BILLION they had already committed to, totaling $1.25 TRILLION).  In addition, they have committed to buying $300 BILLION in Treasury bonds.
b.      What does this mean?  This will help keep the price of bonds high, which in turn keeps the yield low / IN OTHER WORDS, mortgage interest rates will tend to stay in these low levels for a longer period of time.
