When the U.S. Treasury was given the authority to spend $700 billion to stabilize the U.S. economy, Congress created a Congressional Oversight Panel (COP) to "review the current state of financial markets and the regulatory system." When the U.S. Treasury was given the authority to spend $700 billion to stabilize the U.S. economy, Congress created a Congressional Oversight Panel (COP) to "review the current state of financial markets and the regulatory system." One of the duties of COP is to compile reports to guarantee that the Treasury's actions are in the best interest of the American people. On the News tonight Elizabeth Warren, a Professor of Law at the Harvard Law School and the Chair for the COP panel discussed the availability of the first report released to the public.
