Last night a fund raising spaghetti dinner and Elvis show went on without a hitch in Smithville, Bastrop County,  Texas for one of the Bastrop County officers,  Investigator Woods, who has experienced some serious medical issues following a necessary surgery.  The dinner was delicious and ample, spaghetti and meat sauce, garlic bread, corn,  pimento stuffed jalapenos, of course sweet tea, and cake for dessert. The community support was obvious by the wonderful turn out.

After dinner there was a cake auction and cakes were sold to local business owners, and residents from $60-150 a piece.

I sold 40 round bales  of Johnson Grass out of our last cuttingof hay off our ranch inBastrop Texas  to my next door neighbor.  He put them out in the pasture with about twenty five young bulls of mixed heritage.  Being young and hungry they have made fast work of eating the hay. And they are fat and sassy! Every morning when I walk down to the Colorado River with my cup of coffee to check on my horses in my back pasture, I see these young bulls playing King of the Hay.  I have tried to get a picture a couple of … (2 comments)

Riverbend Park  in  Smithville is getting some upgrades!  Work on the projects should be completed in late 2008. They are adding a 9 hole frisbee golf course which should be loads of fun.  The park already offers a couple of really nice volleyball courts, a ball field, an arena, camping and RV spots, great playground to mention some of the ameneties.   Work is also being done to make the restrooms handicap accesible.  They are planning on upgrading the recreation facilities and adding a kitchen. You can visit one of my earlier blogs to see pictures of some of the park and you can also visit the park website

Why do people just dump their dogs out in the country??????????? - 11/10/07 01:17 PM
My My husband and  I live on a dead end country road in Bastrop County Texas. Last week on my way to work one morning I saw a small forlorn dog on the road.  She looked like she might have had pups somewhere.  She did not belong to anyone on our street.  She had NO trust for humans and would run away when approached yet she would wag her tail and lay down and show her belly.  I tried every day to befriend her.  I was terrified that if I did not get her off the road someone would run her over … (27 comments)

My desk buddies... Little Paint and Blue! - 11/07/07 10:12 AM
I have always collected stuff that makes me happy and gives a little color to my work space.  The Painted Pony was a gift from a good friend and fellow Realtor in the Prescott area, Des Vinson  branch manager with West USA - Chino Valley office.  The Beta is Blue.    Blue doesn't realize that Paint is not a challenging male Beta and daily Blue and Paint have a little office meeting of their own.  They were grouped together on my desk purely by accident based on color schemes.  Watching the interaction between Blue and Paint  always puts a smile on my face … (4 comments)

Tahitian Village - sewer or septic? - 11/05/07 06:46 AM
Tahitian Village in Bastrop is a beautiful sleeper development that has been around for many years. Just lately there has been renewed interest in the area. Prices on lots are still reasonable compared to other areas. The pines are alluring. The proximity to local amenities like the Pine Forest Golf course that is down on the Colorado River are a draw.
One of the big questions Buyers need to ask when purchasing a lot  is can they get water and sewer service( as well as electric and telephone to the lot they are interested in.    And costs are a factor.  Some of the lots may not be able … (0 comments)

If you find yourself on a drive between Lockhart and Delhi in Caldwell County, make sure to stop in McMahan on Hwy 71. Just a few buildings on either side of the road.  Five friends bought the town and plan to renovate it bit by bit.  They have started repainting the and  plan on landscaping, and adding a little park area.  The intentions are preserving the little town and it's heritage.  If you time it just right and come thru at lunch time you can stop at the old general store for some bar b que.  It is a cute and as quaint as can be.
