Surviving the Bastrop Fire September 2011 - 03/08/12 05:34 AM
March 8, 2012 I just found this blog in my Drafts folder unpublished from last Fall when Bastrop TX experienced a massive wildfire. I thought it was still worth publishing even much after the fact. One thing it might do is help people who live in a piney area understand how important creating a defendable space is and that you should always be prepared.

The other day I was doing a final walk through on a home I was helping my Client purchase in Cedar Hills just outside of Elgin in Bastrop County. After the walk through was done and my Clients and I went our seperate ways I took a couple of minutes to drive through the subdivision for a look see. It was a lovely fall day with cooler weathter that is much appreciated in these parts as we had such a long hot, dry summer! With cooler weather here French Toast always sounds good! Here is a recipe that makes a nice big batch of a French Toast - like dish the whole family can enjoy on the weekend. You can do most of the prep work the day before so all you have to do is grab a cup of coffee and put it in the oven on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
NUTTY FRENCH TOAST BAKE

Bastrop County sunsets are spectacular! - 03/08/12 05:20 AM
One of the things that I love about this area of Central Texas, here in Bastrop, is the stunning sunsets we get almost every evening. These pictures were taken just last week from my horse ranch down along the Colorado River between Bastrop and Smithville from my back patio. Each sunset is so very different! Just had to share them.
