bastrop texas: Bastrop Texas has a long and varied history! - 06/21/11 12:26 PM
Bastrop Texas has a long and varied history. In the very early 1800's the Spanish established a fort where the "Kings Highway" crossed the Colorado River on it's way to Louisiana to the east and Mexico to the south. Bastrop's existence was fortified by the river, the road of commerce, it's fertile soils, and the loblolly pines. The town of Bastrop was platted in the mid 1800's. The rolling pastures, fertile soils, and pines in the area appealed to settlers. Large farms and ranches were established. Cotton and lumber were a consistent form of commerce for many years. Today

bastrop texas: A nice testimonial from a farm and ranch Client! - 04/12/11 10:04 PM
I market my listings through a lot of different media - blogs, videos, virtual tours, and selective print ads. In response to my marketing campaign I was contacted by a customer who lived in the Houston area who had been searching for a get away / retreat property in Bastrop and/or surrounding counties for quite some time with no luck. He had worked with a number of other real estate professionals but they just didn't seem to "get" what he wanted. After meeting with him, learning about his specific wants and needs, I gleaned through properties for sale and sent him

bastrop texas: Bastrop agent offers Leasing services - 08/26/10 05:18 PM
In today's economy there are more and more homes being made available for lease. A number of different factors can be involved in this increase in lease inventory from owners relocating following work, or people who need to downsize their lifestyles but can't sell their homes, or investors who have inventory they need to turn, or properties purchased as rental investments through short sales or foreclosures. On the other hand there are people who need to lease a home vs buy while they address credit problems, or possibly need to lease after loosing a property to foreclosure, or people moving in

With any luck and a little more rain that may change and my fingers are crossed! In the meantime I have had to dry feed my horse stock and this last winter that was a bit of a challenge as

bastrop texas: Bastrop wildfire was devestating - somehow it missed our little office. - 03/02/09 05:15 PM
Saturday was a stressful day full of excitement and not the good kind. A wildfire broke out in the piney area just north of our real estate office in Bastrop County. The high winds broke a tree limb which fell on an electrical line which caught the dry underbrush and away it went. I was in town buying office supplies when I got the call that we had to evacuate the office. By the time I got there the smoke was THICK. I grabbed my files, my laptop and the hard drive and locked up. The fire fighters staged just down

bastrop texas: ColoVista Bastrop Texas - 12/29/08 04:47 PM
ColoVista is a development just outside of Bastrop is one of the best kept secrets in Texas I think. Once a private estate, the original Texas ranch house is now a drop dead gorgeous club house with an infinity pool and there is a beautiful golf course that wanders thru the original estate. Beautiful custom homes line the roads and the golf course in the pines and down into the prairie by the Colorado River. I live within 2 miles of Colo Vista, one of the reasons we bought our ranch! bastrop texas: A haven for Martingales in Cedar Creek area of Bastrop Texas - 03/17/08 07:04 AM
A haven for Martingales inCedar Creek area of Bastrop Texas In Texas many people know the benefits of encouraging Martingales to nest on one's property. Here is a picture of a property in the Cedar Creek area of Bastrop Texas. As part of wildlife managment and bug control we put up housing for the birds. In some cases combining a wildlife management program on top of existing agricultural tax status you can get wildlife tax status. Unfortunately for the owners of this property they do not have the acreage range for that tax break. All I can assume is that they

I woke up yesterday morning here in Bastrop County Texas to see that spring sprang while I was sleeping! Most all of my trees are budding! Of course this morning those new buds will have a rude awakening as it is near freezing. Central Texas in the spring time, if you don't like the weather wait a few minutes, and keep your closet fully integrated with winter/spring/summer clothes! This is what my trees did while I was getting my snore on......... my red bud tree, mesquite tree, oak tree, pear tree, and few other trees I

bastrop texas: Feed prices are climbing.........has anyone else noticed? What is up with that??? - 02/12/08 07:38 AM
I stopped in my local feed store to purchase some bagged pelleted feed for my horses this week and was shocked that the per bag price had increased by almost 1.00 per bag, across the board, not just one mfg. When I asked the store manager he told me that feed prices to him were increasing at least .40 per bag per month. Of course this is a small mom and pop store vs a large feed store chain ,so I get why the increase is passed on. He told me that there is a shortage of corn due to the
