active rain: Adding Pictures to Your Active Rain Blog--The 20/20 Rule - 10/12/09 12:52 AM
Adding Pictures to Your Active Rain Blog--The 20/20 Rule I was teaching a blogging class at our Association recently and one of the questions was about posting your photos and clip art on your blog. "How do I keep my text/words from running into my pictures?"  I explained the 20/20 rule to him.  This week I received an email asking me that same question from another member.  Today as I was reading a post, I noticed that the text was butting up against the bloggers clip art and thought it was time I share this simple rule with you for posting … (54 comments)

Getting Started RIGHT in the RAIN
New to The RAIN? In celebration of my arrival at the 200K mark, I thought I'd practice what I preach--paying it forward!  Rather than 'boast' about achieving 200K points and how I got to this point, I decided to share with all of the newcomers to Active Rain that it CAN be done--and it's really pretty painless!

One year ago, I skeptically joined Active Rain.  As I was recently chatting with WooHoo Sally, we laughed at our initial thoughts of this forum:   Both of us were weary of this social networking 'thing' … (119 comments)

Jump In With Both Feet or Play in the Puddles Here in the RAIN......Either way, it's okay!Lately, I've been receiving alot of emails from new Active Rain members about quite a broad range of things--how to add color to your posts, how to subscribe to a member, what to do with that subscription and how to 'reciprocate.'  Now, I'm certainly no expert but, as I've been answering more and more questions and watching these newbies just flourish here in the Rain, I realized that 'hey, maybe I've GOT it!'  I've now been an active member on Active Rain for ONE YEAR! … (33 comments)

active rain: How Do You Eat YOUR Jellybeans? - 11/17/08 11:38 AM
What's YOUR Active Rain Style? What is Your Active Rain Style? Ronald Reagan once said, "You can tell alot about a fellow's character by his way of eating jellybeans." Many have analyzed this quote to present Reagan's real meaning of his words.  What does this have to do with Active Rain?
We're constantly trying to analyze our methods of blogging and commenting here in the Rain!  Who comments on whose posts? How do you learn what program to use to better present your posts?  Who do you subscribe to?  Who do you 'associate' with here in the Rain?  Are you a groupie … (57 comments)

active rain: Embrace Change; Play in the Rain with Us! - 11/10/08 11:38 PM
Embrace CHANGE; Play in the Rain with Us! Embracing CHANGE; Play in the Rain with Us! No matter the type of market that we're in, we're all aware that real estate is everchanging.  One of the most important character traits which we must employ as business people is integrity. In addition to that, and among many other positive character traits we must possess, is the ability to embrace change.  If we are not current leaders in our field and we aspire to become a leader in the real estate business, we must possess leadership qualities.
Leaders see a need for … (38 comments)

A BIG Thank You to My Friends in the Rain! A BIG Thank You to My Friends in the Rain!

It's been nearly a week and my, how things have changed!  I wrote about my awesome Dad and how he saved my Mom's life at their home one week ago today.  If you didn't read the post, my parents were watching the ECU-Virginia Tech game and my mother had a massive heart attack.  My Dad phoned 911, held the phone to his ear while the 911 operator instructed him in CPR. Together God & my Dad (alone in the home) … (43 comments)

...in the RAIN!  Amazing but, I've finally arrived!  Who woulda' thought?!  I've been looking at Active Rain for quite some time but, it took me awhile to finally decide to sign up and then to actually write something 'worthy' of being seen by the public-- other than a Residential Purchase Offer!

I'm ever so thankful for being here and for all of the friends that I've made along the way...
However, I'm not going to write the usual milestone-marking post.  Instead, I'm going to finally share one of my … (135 comments)

Using Active Rain as an Educational Tool Active Rain:  Educational & Multifaceted!

I was chatting today with a fellow-Rain'er and were discussing our favorite bloggers and some of the current discussions that are going on.  That lead to the topic of posts that lead to discussions that seem to go on and on!  I love those--especially if they're friendly!  If they're not friendly, I try to steer clear of the comments and either move on or sit back and watch!

However, I have to say that a large part of the time, I read the post … (20 comments)

Active Rain and Reciprocity
Active Rain & Reciprocity

rec·i·proc·i·ty

-noun 1.  A reciprocal state or relation. 2.  Reciprocation; mutual exchange. 3.  The relation or policy in commercial dealings between countries by which corresponding advantages or privileges are granted by each country to the citizens of the other.

How does this term, reciprocity apply to Active Rain?  I've spoken with a few Active Rainers about my 'habit' here in the Rain:  I login, go to my BLOGS tab and look at the right hand column.  Here lies the Active Rain members to whom I have subscribed.  I … (60 comments)

$2.5 - $3m Listing--Thanks to Active Rain!
$2.5 - $3m Deal Sealed--Thanks to Active Rain!

Earlier in the week, I wrote about a Seller who had phoned to have me list her home in the $2.5-$3m price range in PRIME Charlotte. I found out at the appointment that I was competing with some hard- hitting REALTORS in the area and was rather 'stunned' if you will, because I thought they had already researched and found who they wanted to list their home--ME!

Honestly (and humbly), my face and name are ALL over the place and my business is … (19 comments)
