active rain friends: #retso - REtech South is FINALLY Here! - 03/25/10 01:08 AM
#retso - REtech South is FINALLY Here !Finally--it's been just the LONGEST year! Last year I attended the best real estate conference I had ever attended here in Atlanta, REtech South! What a treat to meet my online friends and 'family' and to learn cutting edge technology tips of the trade alongside my ActiveRain, Facebook and Twitter friends. The time has arrived for the 2010 RETS conference and the attendance this year is nearly doubled from that of last year! With 68 speakers and presentations from building a brokerage to videography like you've NEVER seen before, REtech South has it ALL!This

active rain friends: A Goodbye to My Favorite Lender...but, Hello to a New ActiveRain Member! - 03/08/10 09:35 AM
A Goodbye to My Favorite Lender...but, Hello to a New ActiveRain Member! Recently NC lending laws made a change that disallows lenders from working from out-of-state offices--they must have brick and mortar office space, occupied 40 hours per week within the state of North Carolina. My lender's broker is not willing to make that investment for only one of his lending staff to work out-of-state. I was devastated, to say the least! Funny story about Brian Dover, my favorite lender of all time: I had clients a few years ago who were set up with my Bank of America lender

active rain friends: Fellow Active Rainer Goes the Extra Mile - Jane Peters - 01/01/10 01:13 PM
Fellow Active Rainer Goes the Extra Mile - Jane Peters I met Jane several months back here in the Rain. I began to follow her blog by subscribing to her and watched this incredibly bright, new Active Rain agent bloom and grow into an amazing blogger. She is one of the best reciprocating bloggers here--if you visit her blog, she comments back to you AND visits your blog too! Jane has asked questions and with a quick answer, takes advice and instruction and just runs with it! Jane has managed to come a very long way in a short amount of

active rain friends: Active Rain Featured in the North Carolina Association of Realtors® Insight Magazine - 11/13/09 12:39 AM
Active Rain Featured in the North Carolina Association of Realtors® Insight Magazine Barbara West, Assistant Editor of the North Carolina Association of Realtors® Insight magazine featured three of Active Rain's NC agents in their most recent edition! "Active Rain is a True Real Estate Community" featured your own Leesa Finley, Diane Aurit and myself--all of which expressed our passion for the Rain and how beneficial it is to our business. Leesa, from Wake Forest, recently received a phone call from an excited buyer, proclaiming "I hear you're the Wake Forset specialist." Leesa knew right away that she had been discovered by this potential buyer,

active rain friends: Active Rain Family Does it Again--This Time With Short Sales! - 06/29/09 08:26 PM
Active Rain Family Does it Again--This Time It's Short Sales! I had the honor of participating in the first of a five-part series on Short Sales with Bryant Tutus & Wendy Rulnick and the class was absolutely wonderful! As you all know, I've been very fortunate to live in an area that did not have the 'bubble' to burst but, the national economy has slowly but, surely 'trickled down' to Charlotte! We had never even heard of short sales in 2007 and now, we are seeing them--and we need HELP! Bryant (aka BB--TLW's 'other-half'!) and Wendy, fellow Active Rain members, have offered

active rain friends: Why We Post and DASH! - 04/04/09 06:35 AM
Why We Post and Dash! I've read recently that there are some that don't understand why members don't respond back to each and every comment that is left on their posts. Folks, I am here to say that for many of us, it is virtually (no pun intended!) impossible! We are writing for several reasons--to garner business from both the consumer and our fellow agents, to share knowledge and we sometimes write just for the heck of it. I'm not quite sure which category this post would fit into! LOL But, when we do capture the

active rain friends: Active Rain Friend needs YOU! - 03/17/09 08:55 AM
You know how you just connect with some people? Well, one of my best buddies here in the Rain is in need of your prayers this week--most especially during the hours of 2:00 and midnight! Our own TLW, (Billie) or 'The Lovely Wife' is having major surgery today. She has had a very rough road with vascular disease over the past few years but, the last 8 months have been incredibly tough for her. Though you'd never know it--she still writes her 'crappy' posts (LOL) and manages to hijack nearly a post a day! She's kept her chin up and

active rain friends: Dear Diary, My Passion Is... - 02/22/09 11:07 PM
Dear Diary, My Passion Is... ...jumping into life with zest & zeal! Since Deb wrote her contest announcement, I've been contemplating what I'm going to write about for this particular contest. Everyone knows that I'm pretty transparent about everything in my life and I have shared much of that with you already. So, I began reviewing my list of passions to determine which one I would write about-- I am passionate about my faith, my hubby, my boys, my pets, my family and my friends--those things are a given! I'm passionate about cancer education and prevention, saving money, giving back

Jump In With Both Feet or Play in the Puddles Here in the RAIN......Either way, it's okay!Lately, I've been receiving alot of emails from new Active Rain members about quite a broad range of things--how to add color to your posts, how to subscribe to a member, what to do with that subscription and how to 'reciprocate.' Now, I'm certainly no expert but, as I've been answering more and more questions and watching these newbies just flourish here in the Rain, I realized that 'hey, maybe I've GOT it!' I've now been an active member on Active Rain for ONE YEAR!

Pet Peeve #1 Pet Peeve #1 Yes, you know we all have our passions about pet peeves in our business but, this is truly my #1 and has been for many years! I've been meaning to write this for several months but, today I had an experience that MADE me write this now! As most of you know, Ray spent the week before last in the hospital--now comes the follow-up doctor visits! WooHoo! He set out and went to his primary care physician appointment on his own, as I had a client appointment that I had to attend. We then met

What's YOUR Active Rain Style? What is Your Active Rain Style? Ronald Reagan once said, "You can tell alot about a fellow's character by his way of eating jellybeans." Many have analyzed this quote to present Reagan's real meaning of his words. What does this have to do with Active Rain? We're constantly trying to analyze our methods of blogging and commenting here in the Rain! Who comments on whose posts? How do you learn what program to use to better present your posts? Who do you subscribe to? Who do you 'associate' with here in the Rain? Are you a groupie
