In my former life, I worked at Charlotte Memorial Hospital (which is now Carolinas Medical Center) as a registered nurse . A physician with whom I worked, (who is no longer living), knew how much I loved history so, he graciously gave me a mini-history lesson every time we spoke! With over 300 Fortune 500 Companies represented in the Charlotte area, our real estate market has not followed market trends as in other cities in the U.S. This is also due to our constant influx of banking transferrees and our growing economy.
Myers Park real estate is not experiencing nearly the problems that other neighborhoods in other cities are currently experiencing but, right now, Myers Park Sellers are extremely 'stressed!' Here, Sellers are used to seeing their homes "fly off of the market" with contracts, oftentimes within the first day on the market.

One of our prime areas in Charlotte continues to 'boom' in 2007, and I predict that sales will show an increase in 2008 as well. While I was pulling my weekly statistics on my specialty areas, I compiled the following data on the Myers Park area.
2007 saw a significant increase in the purchase of older single family homes in the Myers Park area, that were demolished and replaced with new construction. Myers Park's location and quaint, tree-lined streets, fabulous architecture and lack of 'cookie cutter' homes add to it's continued popularity and high rates of appreciation, even with a slightly down-market.
