Ah, technology. How did we ever manage before the internet and the ability to email? 
This is an email I received earlier this morning from another agent, an agent whom I don't know.  The message pertains to my attempts over the past three months to hold a weekly all agent caravan in our market area.  The names of the area and lane were removed to mask the identity of the agent.  I am NOT making this up:

emarketing: Emarketing Tidbit: Transactional Emails Make POWERFUL Selling Tools - 08/10/08 06:24 PM
When someone registers on your website or contacts you for more information via email, it's likely that you are using an automated email responder to notify them that their email has been received.
Instead of the expected "Thank you for contacting us"  why not send a POWERFUL message back to your prospect with details of your current promotion, or a special offer for them since they have taken the time to register on your site or request information from you?
Transactional emails provide any business with the perfect power tool since they can add unexpected and added value to your email.

I have been blogging recently about how Realtors and builders are not getting the results that they once enjoyed from their emarketing efforts.  See the posts Email Marketing: Have we Killed the Golden Goose Part I & Part II - Improving Your Open Rate. 
To recap, fewer emarketing messages are getting opened by consumers.  Many are bouncing either because the "e-address" is no longer valid, the mailbox is over quota, or the subscriber’s account has been suspended by the provider due to lack of use, but the biggest challenge facing marketers today is getting past the spam blockers.
