Not Your Father's Corporate Housing - 02/25/07 12:04 AM
There seems to be an increase in Employer Assisted Housing Programs around the country. To me, this is a good thing. the new version of corporatehousing is much more of a win/win situation for both employer and employee and we, as REALTORS become the facilitators to make it happen. These new programs … (0 comments)

Landscaping for Environment and Beauty - 02/16/07 09:22 PM
As spring approaches, many people begin to think about landscaping, especially as a means to increase curb appeal if they are selling. While colorful annuals can definitely increase the curb appeal there may be some other factors to consider in creating plantings for landscape effect. Perrenials are wonderful because once established they … (1 comments)

Enough Already - 02/10/07 09:42 AM
Okay, maybe it's just me. I do not work in the luxury market, but according to REALTOR Magazine, there is a trend that is beginning in,but not limited to upscale markets. Multiple laundry rooms.....Hey, I like convenience as much as the next person. I understand that carrying laundry up and down … (4 comments)

Stop Ranting About Part Time Agents! - 02/08/07 12:23 AM
Quite often people seem to be complaining about how the industry is being ruined by either discounters or part time agents. The real issue, IMHO, should be professionalism. We all know full time agents who do not behave in a professional manner. THESE are the people who make life difficult for … (40 comments)

Small House Space Savers - 02/06/07 10:55 PM
One of the reasons people claim they need more space is that they need storage. You wonder how much the stored stuff ever get used and if it would not be better off given to someone who would actually use it--but that's another post. Older, smaller homes are notorius for having … (1 comments)

Knit a sweater and turn down the thermostat - 02/06/07 12:57 AM
Okay, this green thing is getting some energy. I have never made the time or energy to seriously pursue a hobby. I am a so-so quilter and slightly better at crochet. I have recently decided with great reluctance to give up the quilting as much for issues of storage and space … (3 comments)

Green Building vs Green Washing - 02/05/07 01:05 PM
As green building becomes more popular following the increased warnings about global climate change we need to be more vigilant than ever about "grennwashing". While I would be among the first to say that bamboo flooring is a great choice I recoil at the fact that some manufacturerers use toxic adhesives … (2 comments)

REALTORS as Health Care Providers? - 02/04/07 07:31 PM
I know, it seems unlikely, but consider this. Current data shows more than 20.3 million asthma sufferers in the United States. More than 5,000 people die annually from asthma. Part of my concern is as an EcoBroker Part of it is as an asthma sufferer. My insurance company could save thousands … (0 comments)

Seattle's Best Coffee and Branding - 02/01/07 12:00 AM
Okay, I love coffee. Specifically espresso. Preferablly first thing in the morning. I can and will make my own. Much better if someone else does it. You have to understand that until a year ago, I lived on an Indian reservation in Northern New Mexico and the closest Starbucks was a … (3 comments)

My blog is as much about a philosophy of life and living as it is about real estate as a business. E.F. Shumacher subtitled his book SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL "Economics as if People Mattered" In the real estate industry we realize that people matter and that where they live matters. We now also have a larger responsiblity, I believe, to get them to consider HOW they live. Everyone in the developed world using less energy and resources makes it possible for those who have access to neither to experience a better life and to make the difference between their being able to having a roof overhead or not or for their children to eat or not.
