frank lloyd wright: The charm os living small - 06/15/07 08:30 PM
"... SMALL HOUSE ON THE SIDE STREET MIGHT HAVE CHARM IF IT DIDN'T APE THE BIG HOUSE ON THE AVENUE..." Frank Lloyd Wright
Perhaps one of the reasons that small houses today are so seldom accepted is that those not custom designed and built, tend to be simply a small version of a … (0 comments)

frank lloyd wright: Small is Beautiful - 06/15/07 01:44 AM
Many of you know about my great admiration for Frank Lloyd Wright. As with most creative and inspired people, he had his warts as a human being, but he was driven by the idea that everyone should have an opportunity to live in a beautiful, functional home. His Usonian houses … (0 comments)

frank lloyd wright: A Roof Overhead - 01/05/07 08:59 PM
Was with some clients who are looking for a home atha will accomodate their need for a studio space and their love of the outdoors. Unlike most folks these days, they are not concerned about the size of the house; in fact, they prefer smaller to larger. They reminded me of … (0 comments)

frank lloyd wright: How Big is Big Enough? - 10/08/06 08:11 PM
Sorry if it sounds like I am on a rant asbout this again but really, this is ridiculous. I was reminded of my social worker days today. I worked with a family in which there were 8 children ranging in age from 5 to 22, two parents, a son in law and a grand … (2 comments)

frank lloyd wright: USONIAN HOUSE PRINCIPLES AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY - 07/28/06 09:47 PM
As green building principles become more mainstream more people are looking at issues of energy efficincy in existing homes as well. Frank Lloyd Wright's "United States of North America" houses were built to take into account the principle we are now rediscovering.

frank lloyd wright: Small is Beautiful - 07/14/06 05:30 PM

frank lloyd wright: Good Old Homes - 07/13/06 12:43 AM
I specialize in residential resale for several reasons, not the least of which is that I love old houses. They lend themselves to creativity and excite me about the possibilities of continuing to inhabit a space that has seen so much happen already. The old "if these walls could talk" … (0 comments)

My blog is as much about a philosophy of life and living as it is about real estate as a business. E.F. Shumacher subtitled his book SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL "Economics as if People Mattered" In the real estate industry we realize that people matter and that where they live matters. We now also have a larger responsiblity, I believe, to get them to consider HOW they live. Everyone in the developed world using less energy and resources makes it possible for those who have access to neither to experience a better life and to make the difference between their being able to having a roof overhead or not or for their children to eat or not.
