pueblo west: Pueblo West Auction/422 S, Tejon Ave , Pueblo West Recall Election - Vote! - 08/14/09 09:18 PM
Did you get the post card in the mail for the Nationwide Liquidators auction at 422 S. Tejon Ave on Sat, Aug 15 @ 12pm and Sun, Aug 16 @ 1pm? Looks like lots of furniture, art, and fine oriental carpets to be auctioned off. I called Nationwide Liquidators and they told me that the house was also going to be auctioned off (which was confirmed by the listing agent). I got a chance to tour the house and meet the current owners. Stunningly gorgeous house, with every amenity you can think of: fantastic views from bluff home site, xeriscaped 2-acre

pueblo west: Seufer Nursery is back in Pueblo West, Breast Cancer 3-Day - 08/07/09 04:50 PM
Guess what? Seufer Brother's Nursery is back in Pueblo West and here to stay (In a previous blog I reported their departure from Pueblo West). They are located at their former location on 1087 E Holiday Drive (East of/behind Pueblo West Safeway), co-located with new property owner Rocky Mountain Landscape Materials. The nursery offers a great (and reasonably priced) selection of locally grown trees and shrubs. Nan Black is also back and can provide advice and assistance on the best plants for our dry, windy, high desert terrain. I have been training for the 60 mile Breast Cancer 3-day walk to

pueblo west: New Housing Laws Effect July 1, Happy 4th! - 06/26/09 05:56 PM
Some important Colorado laws go into effect on July 1st. House Bill 1091 requires Carbon Monoxide detectors in all single family and multi-family homes offered for sale, transfer, or rent. Any residential real property containing a fuel-fired heater or appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage will be required to have a carbon monoxide alarm properly installed within 15 feet of the entrance to each room lawfully used for sleeping. See HB-1091 for the details. House Bill 1109 expands the protection given to home owners under the Foreclosure Protection Act. The only action taken in the bill is to revise the

pueblo west: Pueblo West Property Values & Selling Your Home in Today's Market - 04/24/09 03:30 PM
The last couple of listing appointments I've been on have been nothing but bad news for the potential seller. For all those people who purchased a home in Pueblo West in 2005 or 2006 (and that includes me!), your home is worth today about what it was worth when you bought it (unless you have done substantial improvements to the property). So if you purchased with a 100% loan or if you used your home as a bank by getting a home equity loan in addition to your mortgage and the total of your loans equals or exceeds the original purchase

pueblo west: Winter Weather, Lot Sales Scams, Weird Week - 03/27/09 03:15 PM
As I am writing this, I'm watching the wind swirl the snowflakes as a springtime blizzard makes its way through Pueblo West (so much for the 70+ degree weather). Hopefully, your pantry is stocked and you are already prepared for this storm. Please, if you do NOT need to be out on the roads, STAY HOME. I'm looking forward to catching up on my reading, knitting, and e-mail while I wait for the storm to pass. If we do get a lot of snow, meet your neighbor as we shovel out in the next few days! We really need this moisture

pueblo west: Colorado Home Away From Home, Senior Water Aerobics and Life With the Combat Veteran - 03/20/09 12:27 PM
I have to say, I find this whole concept of unknown people reading my blog just quite amazing! I had gotten a call from the owner of Colorado Home Away From Home, which is a transitional housing venue right here in Pueblo West (see: http://www.coloradohomeawayfromhome.com/). Now, I've stayed in some pretty fancy digs (like that time I stayed in the Marina Del Rey Ritz-Carlton in my pre-real estate days while working as a computer security consultant or some fancy-schmancy time shares around the world). But, I have to say that NONE of those can touch the elegant comfort you can find at the

pueblo west: Fired PW Metro District Manager, Recalled Refrigerators, New PW Library - 03/13/09 11:42 AM
Obviously, I need to start attending the Pueblo West Metro District Board meetings (go to the calendar on the home page of my website: http://wwww.mypueblowest.com or http://www.pueblowestmetro.com/mtgsched09.php to find dates/times). I have to say that I am shocked that Don Saling was fired at the last board meeting. I'll keep you posted when I hear who is being considered as a replacement. Here is some info from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on a recall of refrigerators due to fire hazard: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09145.html. Please check to see if your refrigerator is included on the list! I went on a tour of the

pueblo west: This and That - A Report About Local Pueblo West Businesses - 01/30/09 11:50 AM
Well, last week, my orange tabby cat, George (as in Gorgeous George, Curious George, George of the Jungle), was having difficulty opening his left eye. I called the only Vet listed in the little Pueblo West phone book (note to competition – it pays to advertise here!), Markway’s Animal Medical Center on 472 S. Joe Martinez Blvd. They were able to take George at 8:00 on Saturday morning, checked him out, gave me medication and now George is back to normal (although the fight to get the drops in his eye has NOT been fun). So, thanks to Markway’s for taking

pueblo west: Updates On What's Going On In Pueblo West - 01/08/09 07:39 PM
Well here are some updates for you on what's going on in Pueblo West. All of that activity on the end of Oro Grande (south side of Highway 50) is for a new Catholic Church. The Bishop of Pueblo, aka the Catholic Church, owns a very large parcel of land there. I've decided to take a Zumba class from Pueblo West Parks and Recreation. Zumba is a high-energy exercise class which promises to tone and sculpt the body (See flyer for other classes: http://www.pueblowestmetro.com/images/spring09broch.pdf). The "Ball and Band" exercise class, which sounded a bit kinky, was already filled up.

pueblo west: Happy New Year! - 12/31/08 06:15 PM
I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope your 2009 is happy and healthy. One of my 2009 goals is to try to reconnect with people this year. So, CALL or EMAIL me, and let’s set up a breakfast (another of my New Year’s resolutions is to eat breakfast!) or coffee date to catch up, review current market conditions, and to answer any of your real estate questions. My January 2009 blogs will be a review of the gyms/fitness facilities in Pueblo West (yet another resolution!) and report back to you on what I find. I’ll also be

pueblo west: Results of Auction at 1223 South Skyline Lane - 12/12/08 03:26 PM
I know enquiring minds want to know - what was the final auction price on the house at 1223 South Skyline Lane mentioned in last week's blog? Well, first, let me tell you that I went with a couple of friends/clients to take a look at the house. I thought from the pictures in the mailer that there was a lake view but, unfortunately, that was not the case. There was no lawn or landscaping so to speak - the house seemed to be built on a hill of shale. When you first walked in, the foyer and entrance hallway were

pueblo west: Absolute Auction - 12/05/08 06:40 PM
You may have gotten a glossy brochure in the mail about the December 9th Absolute Auction of 1223 South Skyline Lane, Pueblo West. There is more info on the auctioneer's website at http://grandestatesauction.com/ (couldn't find the address though) and there was an ad that ran in the Pueblo West View (also without address). The viewing dates and times before the 2:00 Auction on Tuesday are show below. It's not too often (OK, never - all my real estate clients are normal people) that I get to see a 12,000+ sqft home with all the amenities overlooking Pueblo West Dam. So, I'll

pueblo west: Pueblo West Residential Real Estate Recap - 11/07/08 09:23 AM
Well, this blog originally started out to be about real estate so I figured it is time to give you some residential property statistics. The following information was taken from the Pueblo Association of Realtors Multiple List Service for residential properties sold in Pueblo West for the months indicated. Although the figures are down slightly for this year as compared to last year, Pueblo West properties are still selling! Don't hesitate to call or e-mail me if you have additional questions about properties currently for sale or if you would like a market analysis of your home.

pueblo west: PW Medical Facility, Time Change and CCSC - 10/31/08 09:48 AM
An update on last week's blog. Right after I released the blog, I got a call back from Michelle Peulen, Public Relations specialist for Parkview Hospital. She told me the new Pueblo West medical facility will be opening on November 15. On that day, they will be hosting a flu-shot clinic. On Nov 13, from 3-7 pm, there will be a community preview of the new facility. Don't forget, set your clocks back an hour this weekend. I sure will hate driving home in the dark after the time change. This weekend is also a good time to check your smoke
