Virtual Real Estate - 01/29/09 12:37 PM
There are two things that I enjoy about being a real estate consultant - the relationships I form with the people I work with and the constant change of the business. I began my career in 1991 when our multiple listing service was slowly making the change from being printed in books and sent out every two week to an online DOS based system. There hasn't been a year that goes by that hasn't seen some change in the business. I once went to a real estate convention where they were going to surprise agents with a "major technological tool". Recycle Your Electronics & Make $ - 01/26/09 12:35 PM
Did you get a new Wii or Iphone for the holidays and now don’t know what to do with your old phone or XBox? I’ve just come across a very cool site called Gazelle. This company buys old electronics like camcorders, cellphones and MP3 players. Rather than just recycle the components, they have outlets to resell the items so the idea is that everything gets reused before being recycled. They’ll even pay for your shipping and send you a box, so using their service is a no brainer. I recently used Freecycle.org and gave away some older electronics, but whether you

The Sky Isn't Falling in Arlington, MA - 01/22/09 11:45 AM
Although you can’t read or watch the news without hearing the term “housing crisis”, Arlington Massachusetts is a good example that all real estate is local and you can’t judge by what might be going on in other areas. Here are the latest statistics from January 2009: Let’s compare these figures to what was going on in the fall in October 2008: As you would expect due to the time of year and the amount of snow on the ground, there are less single family homes and condos currently on the market, but except for this normal seasonal change,

Goldilocks and the Real Estate Market in Somerville MA - 01/19/09 11:20 AM
If Goldilocks were looking to buy or sell a house in Somerville, she would find that one segment of the market is speeding up, one segment is slowing down and one segment is just right and has remained level. Here’s the latest statistics for the Somerville, MA real estate market. Somerville Market Statistics January 2009: Let’s compare this to what was going on 2 months ago. Somerville Market Statistics November 2008: Not surprising given the time of year and the current cold and snowy weather, there are less properties for sale now than there were in November.

No Recession For Me - 01/02/09 01:23 PM
As the media continues to scream crisis” at us, I’m pleased to be able to share with you a website that realizes that going around saying “woe is me” doesn’t help. Check out www.NoRecessionForMe.us done by the advertising agency of Holton Sentivan + Gury. After the video there are links to articles on ways you can survive our current economic state. Once they reach their target number, they’ll be taking out an ad in the Wall Street Journal with the names of everyone who says, “I Refuse to Wallow in Bad News!”
