Have you started to notice QR codes like this one? QR stands for Quick Response. These 2 dimensional pictures are a new form of bar code which can be scanned using a cell phone and one of the many free bar code apps. QR codes bridge print advertising with mobile media and make it easy for potential buyers to get full information on a house for sale.

By now you've probably seen the Shift Happens video originally created by high school teacher, Karl Fisch to educate the Arapahoe High School community about the latest changes in technology. The video has had a life of it's own and now version 4.0 is out to update the world about the changes in Media Convergence and Technology (Facebook, Twitter, iPhones anyone?!) There are two things that I enjoy about being a real estate consultant - the relationships I form with the people I work with and the constant change of the business. I began my career in 1991 when our multiple listing service was slowly making the change from being printed in books and sent out every two week to an online DOS based system. Facebook is fun. It’s given me a great way to reconnect with friends from long ago, like high school (which is longer ago than I like to think :), and stay in contact with friends, family and clients. Using Facebook for both business and personal friends got me thinking . . . there are some photos that I’ve chosen not to put on Facebook because they would only make sense to my family - we enjoy inside jokes and I don’t want to alienate some of my other friends. I’ve been giving a new presentation to help real estate agents understand social media and why they want to get involved. Whenever I teach, there’s always something new I learn, this time from Laura, one of the agents who came to a class.
This video is the work of a Karl Fisch, a teacher at Arapahoe High School. He designed it to help update the rest of their teaching community about the latest changes in technology. But with the power of the Internet, this video has spread around the world and was even used at a recent Sony global management meeting.
