The Catfish House

If longevity has anything to do with it, then the Catfish House in Clarksville TN will get the winning votes for the best catfish dinners in the area. Do You Ever Get the Feeling the Lender is Lying to You? - 07/31/12 01:38 PM
Do You Ever Get the Feeling the Lender is Lying to You? My buyer contracted with terms in the sales contract to get a conventional loan. The buyer has great credit scores, assets, ample retirement income and is putting 10% down.
I get a call from the loan processor saying that she needs the FHA Loan Addendum. Now wait a minute. This buyer is getting a conventional loan so you don't need that. She looks a little deeper into the file and tells me that the loan officer switched it to FHA and she had the FHA appraisal back in her hand.

The Lone Flower in My Garden - 07/30/12 01:19 PM
The Lone Flower in My Garden. The hot summer and lack of rain has played havoc with my yard and flower garden. I have a variety of bulbs, perennials, roses and daylilies planted that are designed to give me color from late winter all the way through to the first frost in the fall.
Mother Nature had a different plan this year and made things in my garden bloom early and out of sequence. The result is now that we are in mid-summer, there are not the blooms for me to enjoy. The hot 100 degree days have burnt the plants and … (9 comments)

Lookey-Lou's - 07/30/12 05:02 AM
Lookey-Lou’s. Do you know what a Lookey-Lou is? When I got into selling real estate in 1980, I worked a good many open houses on the weekends. People would come through declare themselves to be “just looking”.
We noticed a trend back then that some of these same people would come through our open houses week after week. They would keep saying they were “just looking” but ask questions about the houses and actually show signs of interest in the homes. My fellow associates told me not to get my hopes up, that these types of people were just Lookey- Lou’s. … (103 comments)

Firefly in a Jar. Have We Lost Our Minds?  Do you remember as a young child going out in the backyard to catch fireflies in a jar? We called them lightning bugs in Tennessee because they flashed like lightning.
It was great fun to wait for dusk to set in and either get a canning jar, an old mayonnaise or peanut butter jar and see how many of these little flying insects you could catch. It was a competition of sorts to see who could get the most Fireflies in a Jar.

I am Embarassed and Ashamed - 07/15/12 01:40 PM
I am Embarrassed and Ashamed. Yes, it is time to confess. I cleaned out my pantry and I am Embarrassed and Ashamed. This job hasn’t been done in many months, maybe even a couple of years. That could be a little embarrassing by itself but that is not the true reason for my shame.
I was given some plastic shelving and bins and decided to use them in the pantry to get better organized. I had some extra time in my day and chose to get that little chore done.
These shelves and bins were going to allow me to organize … (77 comments)

If You Don’t Trust Me Vendor, I Don’t Trust You. - 07/14/12 06:54 PM
If You Don’t Trust Me Vendor, I Don’t Trust You. Over the last several years I have had to call on an HVAC serviceman to service some of my listings and get them in good working order before the closing. There has been one company in particular that I frequently called because they did good work and responded to my calls promptly.
A couple of weeks ago I had an occasion to call them for service on a listing of mine. The seller was overseas and asked that I handle the service and put the charge on his side of the … (15 comments)

Do you trust your colleagues? Do they trust you? - 07/13/12 06:24 PM
This is worth repeating because it doesn't happen that often and when it does, it is special. A trust like this between agents is indeed hard to find and needs to be respected and cherished.
Via Tammy Lankford/Broker Lane Realty Lake Sinclair-Central GA:
Do you trust your colleagues? Do they trust you?
Today was a totally unique experience for me.  I've certainly over the past 20 years had some great relationships with other agents where a bond of trust was built and from time to time I've traded favors.  I've opened a house, had them stop by my office and update their key, … (0 comments)

I found something exciting - did YOU know this? - 07/13/12 06:19 PM
Thank you, thank you, thank you Marte. I had forgotten about that little keystroke and since your post about it, I have used it a dozen times. I hope I never forget it again.
Via Marte Cliff (Marte Cliff Copywriting):
The Problem:
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about getting a new wireless keyboard - and how frustrated I was.
My "lazy fingers" keep touching the wrong things and I get ugly noises and pop-ups that stop me in my tracks. Some of them offer to turn something into a link. Others ask what I want to insert. There's a variety.

Price It To Sell And MLS Is The Only Marketing Needed... - 07/13/12 11:22 AM
Pricing is by far the essential key element in getting a property sold. The longer is stays on the market at too high a price, the lower the buyer's offer is likely to be.
Via Barbara Todaro "New Franklin MA Homes" (RE/MAX Executive Realty ):
Listing real estate is all about the price, but I’m not telling you something you didn’t already know!!  The greatest challenge listing agents have is to convince an emotionally filled seller that the home he cherishes is worth “x” amount of dollars.

2014-Where Did the Low Interest Rates Go? People have gotten a little bit complacent expecting low interest rates to stay around for a while longer. They will not stay this low indefinitely. They are going to go up, we just don’t know exactly when. Take a look into the future and see what the consequences of waiting too long will be on your pocketbook. You may be asking in 2014-Where did the Low Interest Rates Go?
