It's getting closer to summer and thoughts turn to taking trips, going to new places and exploring unknown parts. There is nobody better than those in the real estate industry to tout the features of a city or town. So with this challenge it is going to be easy and fun and get you lots of Google juice and maybe even a new customer or client to boot.

For this contest write one post about why someone should come visit your area. You will be an Ambassador for your Community online and on ActiveRain. … (116 comments)

Saturday Subscriber Finds 99

It's Saturday Subscriber Find Time again. The week has flown by and we got another upgrade to the Rain that has brought some challenges. Hang in there folks as I am sure they will get it fixed soon.
These three have something in common. They all three gave me a call in the Ringing and Singing Contest at the end of the year. I follow all of them and like to hear what is going on with them. I hope you will get to know them too.

What Worked Then Still Works Now

During the first few months of joining ActiveRain I read lots of posts. I watched and attended blogging boot camps and learned what I should and should not be doing. Though blogging boot camps are no more (maybe they will be coming back in the  future) there still is a tremendous amount of good information available on ActiveRain University.
I even wrote a post about what type of posts I liked to read back then and why. Do You Want to Know What Catches A Newbie's Eye in a Blog?
This is what caused me to stop and read a blog … (65 comments)

Saturday Subscriber Finds 98

Today is Saturday Subscriber Find Time and I am again focusing on some Newbies. These Members are already blogging and they are also asking and answering questions in the Q&A section. What else impressed me is that these three have filled out their profiles and are showing all the signs or being long timers here in the Rain.
Subscribing to other bloggers lets the blogger know that you care to hear what they have to say. When you hit the Follow Button for another member they are awarded 50 points. This will help our Newbies get to … (20 comments)

activerain: Great infographic and article for on-page SEO - 03/15/15 10:44 AM
Do you believe that Google is changing things and making it harder to rank? Debbie Gartner thinks they have the same objective, they want quality content and want to reward those that write it. Read her post and pick up some great tips about how to make your online presence stand out.
Well today marked a new horizon for my.  My website got over 35,000 unique visitors in past 30 days.  I know some of you have been asking how I do this.  And, the truth is, it's not that hard...if you are focused.

Here is a great guideline, and it's … (0 comments)

Saturday Subscriber Finds 94

We have our favorites in the Rain and these are some of my newer Faves. Reading good content and interacting is part of the fun of being in ActiveRain. Getting our content to rank and be found on the web is what brings many of us here. As we look at some of my Faves see if you can find a familiar pattern in the information they share. Subscribing to other blogs lets the blogger know he is appreciated and it just might get you a subscription right back. I hope you will like this week's Finds.

Ask An Ambassador- Is It Really That Important to be a Rainmaker?

Lot of members in the Rain are signing up just as members (Rainers) with no paid account and limited services. If you look around you will see some members that have been around ActiveRain for years that are not Rainmakers either. Do they realize that the real benefit of having their posts found on the internet is not possible when they are not a Rainmaker?

This benefit of having your posts rank on the search engines is powerful stuff. I was talking with another Rainmaker yesterday and she said just in the last … (52 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain-Welcome to Our International Writing Group! - 03/01/15 08:10 AM
We have quite a diverse group of writers here in ActiveRain. There are all different styles of writing and all types of topics. There are some fantastic photographers. Never let it be said that you can't learn something new because each day provides new information and techniques that can help you grow your business.  Gayle Rich-Boxman mentions just a few of the many places you can go to learn and grow in the Rain. You may have missed some of these bloggers.
By the way, I think you will be able to tell that Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 is an … (8 comments)

Supporting our Newbies helps them stick and that means it falls to us to make them feel welcome. Encouraging and commenting on new members helps them to know that they are getting support and hopefully they will learn to love the Rain like we do. I hope you like this week's Finds.

Your Blog Got Me to Thinking
It happened again. When I read your blogs and as I was commenting, I realized I had so much to say that it needed to be a blog post all on its own. So I left a comment and went immediately to my Write a Blog Editor and put the ideas into a draft post.
Sometimes it is the other responses or comments that spurn the thought or the new idea and not the post itself. It may not even be a new idea but just my take on that situation or topic or something I have … (29 comments)

Weltanschauung in a Word- Philosophy
I have read the ActiveRain Weltanschauung and wondered if I could reduce the principles down to just one word for each point. I think I can so here goes my best effort.
Weltanschauung- Philosophy | The guiding principles of the community.
Involvement | The members make it or break it.
Expertise | Showing our knowledge is good for the network.
Homeownership | It is still what drives the business and is the American Dream.
Diversity | All real estate related professionals are welcome with each one's uniqueness.
Communication | Constructive dialogue fosters transparency about the industry.
Open-mindedness | Sharing ideas … (23 comments)

Are Your Ears Ringing and Your Voice Singing?

The month is two thirds over and that means if you plan to participate in the Ringing and Singing Challenge for the month of January, you had better get going.

Many calls have been made, friendships made, plans for future contact and posts written. The fun begins with deciding who you want to ring up. Then trying to connect is step two. When you do connect time tends to fly and you learn so much about each other. The final step is writing the post and singing about the new connection you made.

Saturday Subscriber Finds 87
Many times a sale wouldn't be a sale without calling in a contractor to help get the home in shape to go on the market. I thought of some of our Rainers that help with these tasks and these folks know what needs to be done and how to do it the right way. These contractors bring some valuable posts to the Rain and we learn so much from hearing about what they encounter.
The purpose of this series is to introduce you to some great bloggers. Let's get started. This is the Saturday Subscriber Finds 87.

A Lurker Sent Me A Referral
A self-proclaimed ActiveRain Lurker in Florida called me a few weeks before Christmas to give me an referral. He found me on ActiveRain and said he believed I knew my area well. He confessed he didn't post on ActiveRain, didn't think he had the time but did enjoy reading and seeing what was being said. He called himself a Lurker with a chuckle which told me he did read the posts on ActiveRain. That is exactly what those that don't post are called by the rest of us that do post.
Back to the story, … (72 comments)

Blogging Matters

If you ever think your post are not being read then read this. I received a call yesterday and the caller said she had Googled and found me as a resource for decluttering and organizing. Though I like to keep an orderly house, I am not a professional organizer or stager.

What I am is a blogger and real estate agent I have written a couple of posts about getting houses ready for market and how I have personally cleaned out getting ready for my own move. Because of that I now come up in the search engines for … (46 comments)

Saturday Subscriber Finds 85, First Post of 2015

This is the first week of the New Year. 2014 went by fast, really fast. now we are already on the 3rd day of 2015. I thought it would be appropriate to focus on Newbies in the Rain. Those of us that have been blogging awhile are in a pretty good routine and found that it has big payoffs. Newbies need encouragement and a tip here or there to establish their own style and develop new business from their blogging. So if you see a Newbie, post a comment and offer to help them. … (56 comments)

You Never Know Where You Will See an ActiveRain Friend
Today was a day of education with a long day in the classroom taking the National Association of REALTORS® certification course called the  MRP, Military Relocation Professional. I recommend this class if you want to learn more about selling to the military but have to admit I didn't hear much information that I haven't come across before while selling to a military population for 34 years.
Along about mid-afternoon the lullies were setting in from sitting all day and eating a delicious lunch that was furnished by one of our lender sponsors. I … (64 comments)

I Want You to be My Agent.
It happened again. A prospective buyer called that had found me through my ActiveRain blog and had gone to my website to signup. After receiving listing updates for several weeks and getting to know me through my profile she called to tell me today to say that she has decided she wants me to be her agent. Now that is a bright spot in my day.
For those that think blogging has no purpose, you're wrong.
For those that think nobody is reading you blog, you're wrong.
