Oldies, Newbies and Whatchamacallits
I am in awe of some of the people that jumped into the Rain early on in the first few years. I didn't know about it at all and wonder now what rock I was under. Those early engagers are definitely Oldies in ActiveRain.
These Oldies know most of the ins and outs and have seen the changes, established great relationships and are realizing the benefits of years of blogging. The point totals of these folks are high with some approaching two million. That shows their dedication and involvement. These members are the founders and lovingly called Oldies … (65 comments)

activerain: I Sent My First ActiveRain Referral - 04/04/13 02:32 PM
I Sent My First ActiveRain Referral - Whoopee, the good stuff is beginning to happen. I have been active in ActiveRain for a lttle over a year. I have read lots of success stories about how business was coming from blogging. I heard people say that they had received or sent referrals through the AR family. This was exciting to read and I wanted some of that to come my way.
Well this past week it did. I sent my first ActiveRain referral. I had a past client that had two pieces of property she needed to sell in other states. … (63 comments)

activerain: Boy Am I Glad I Didn’t Join ActiveRain at the Beginning - 04/02/13 09:14 AM
Boy Am I Glad I Didn’t Join ActiveRain at the Beginning. You may be thinking this lady is NUTS. Maybe so about some things but not about this. I am really glad my timing was right for me. Six or seven years ago I wouldn't have been. If I had joined ActiveRain at the beginning I may have been a big part of the fallout, those early bloggers that just disappeared. I look around the community and there are some really good folks that were part of the first wave of bloggers. Congratulations to them, they stayed with it in its … (39 comments)

Ask An Ambassador- Why Should I Be a Rainmaker?

I hear that a lot from members in the Rain that just signed up as members. There are even some members that have been around the Rain for years that are still just members. Though there is nothing at all wrong with this approach, some of the services and benefits are not open to you unless you are a Rainmaker. You are missing out on some of the best parts.

As a Rainmaker, your posts are indexed by Google meaning you can actually see the traffic going to your posts with the number of clicks and views.  … (37 comments)

activerain: With New Improvements Come New Problems - 03/16/13 01:17 PM
With New Improvements Come New Problems. I am really enjoying the new blog editor in ActiveRain. Being able to choose font size, color and having a word counter and autosave are my favorite features.
But I noticed as soon as this was introduced earlier this week, the re-blog feature didn't work. For the first few times I decided it was me or my computer or even my internet connection. Then I gave up. The next day I tried again to do a couple of re-blogs and had the same problem, you know the one when you get that message that … (29 comments)

activerain: Blogging Rules, I'm Confused, Do I Have Any Company? - 01/24/13 08:02 AM
Blogging Rules, I'm Confused, Do I Have Any Company? Oh what to blog about, the ideas are really endless. But then again you have to listen to the experts and when I say that I am referring to the SEO Experts here in the Rain and the awesome staff of AcitveRain that only want the very best for us in our rankings on the web.
So should we do localism posts thet tell the public what is happening in our area? They say yes but not too much. What is Too Much? One SEO Expert suggests not over 30% of what … (44 comments)

activerain: Spam Prevention Puzzles - 07/25/12 02:26 AM
Spam Prevention Puzzles- Frequent users of the internet have seen the conglomeration of letters that certain websites ask you to type in for access to their sites. I call these Spam Prevention Puzzles. ActiveRain uses these in their email side of things and I must say, theirs are some of the best at keeping computer spamming out. They are also some of the best at challenging my mind because of their complexity. I have to be very patient and allow a little more time to “decipher the code”.

Some are one series of letters and some are 2 series with punctuation … (10 comments)

activerain: A Piece of Toilet Paper on My Shoe - 07/19/12 04:17 AM
A Piece of Toilet Paper on My Shoe. A year ago my husband and I were on a flight traveling. As we were nearing the airport I decided to take a quick pit stop while still on the plane and beat the rush that hurries to the restrooms in the terminal. Little did I realize that I had picked up a little extra traveler while in the restroom. A piece of toilet paper was trying to hitch a ride.
The flight landed and we all deplaned. It was not until I was halfway down the terminal hallway that I felt a wisp … (21 comments)

activerain: ReBlogging Gives You Extra Points - 07/13/12 12:03 PM
Reblogging Gives You Extra Points. Did you know that you can earn 25 points for every Reblog you post per week up to a maximum of 10 Reblogs? If my math is right, that is an extra 250 points you can add to your weekly points total. All you have to do is be willing to put a short introduction to someone else’s blog (a minimum of 25 words) and hit the Reblog button.
Now the purpose of this Reblog opportunity is to recirculate those posts that went under the radar the first time or those that have particularly good value or interest … (27 comments)

activerain: 500 Points Appeared Like Magic - 07/01/12 10:11 AM
500 Points Appeared By Magic. I thought I should share this for those of you that are point conscious and have point goals you are trying to reach. While on ActiveRain this week updating my profile, I discovered that I got 500 points that appeared like magic.
The funny thing was that I was making several changes and additions to my profile and wasn't sure what I did. So what was it that triggered those magic points? I wrote an ActiveRain Success Story. It was just a couple of paragraphs so I don't know it was triggered by the number of words … (8 comments)

activerain: Marriage On The Rocks, ActiveRain Is To Blame - 06/23/12 06:05 AM
Marriage On The Rocks, ActiveRain Is To Blame. Not really, but since I have discovered ActiveRain and gotten involved in the community, my husband has felt left out and neglected. I admit it takes a lot of time to check in with my new friends and see what they are saying. And what about all the people I haven't met? I have to give myself a chance to meet them also and I just don't want to miss a thing; it is such valuable information. Of course there is the Google situation where we all are trying to rise in the ranks. It … (45 comments)

activerain: Annoyed And I Don't Know What To Do About It - 06/15/12 07:31 AM
Annoyed And I Don't Know What To Do About It. Here is the situation, I presented an offer to a listing agent about six weeks ago on a short sale of his. At the time of presentation, I had the HUD estimate, all signed disclosures, the preapproval letter and the offer to purchase. My part was complete.
The offer was slightly above listing price with favorable terms for the seller. My buyer was needing a closing at the end of June so he could make a door-to-door move. The short sale lender told the listing agent that a decision should be forthcoming … (29 comments)

activerain: Daily Drop, Daily Double or Daily Trouble? - 06/13/12 02:37 AM
Daily Drop, Daily Double or Daily Trouble? Wow, what is happening to my email inbox? All these email notifications started pouring in and I didn't understand why. I had no idea that the Daily Drop on ActiveRain had tagged my post, Should You Choose An Old or Young Agent?.
After logging on to my ActiveRain account, I started reading the comments. And yes I have read every single one of them. Daily Drop, Daily Double or Daily Trouble? I'm not quite sure at this point.
First, I have never had a featured Daily Drop post since I only started actively blogging in March … (12 comments)

activerain: I've Just Crossed Over The Finish Line - 06/09/12 01:26 PM
I've Just Crossed Over The Finish Line by submitting my 10 FAQ posts into the FAQ Break Into Summer Organized Contest.
My series focused on sellers getting their homes ready for sale and doing those extra things that insure a higher sales price, a quicker sale and less haggling with the buyer.
Writing the posts Beating The Competition in Selling Your Clarksville TN Home was loads of fun. I've Just Crossed Over The Finish Line and I have completed my first big contest in ActiveRain. I am a little tired because I didn't plan well. Although I am not a big procrastinator, I kept waiting for an inspiration rather … (24 comments)

activerain: Think Your Blogs Are Being Overlooked? - 06/02/12 12:39 PM
Think Your Blogs Are Being Overlooked? It is incredible how have many good posts are being entered each day on ActiveRain. I have noticed that there are heavy traffic times when the posts are just pouring in. Unless you are a very gifted speed reader and spends hours and hours on ActiveRain you can't possibly read them all.
On any given day I miss tons of good posts just because of timing. They may come in when I am not online, therefore they slip through the cracks and I never see them. Many of us are checking the posts listed in our … (66 comments)

activerain: Why Is ActiveRain Cheating On Me? - 05/27/12 08:10 AM
Why Is ActiveRain Cheating On Me? And the fact is, AR may be cheating on you as well. Did you know that you get 10 points for every spam report you send? That is if the system chooses to let you have the points that day.
Now points don't matter to a good many of you that have crossed the half million mark or those that are just enjoying the read and coasting along the way. For others of us, it is a measure of our involvement and a personal goal to move up in the ranks with stars and medallions under … (15 comments)

activerain: Take Time to Save Money - 04/16/12 08:59 AM
With our busy days full of appointments, calls to make, paperwork to do it is hard to find time to do one of things most important to our personal development and that is education.
