Exactly what is The Best Of Clarksville?
The Best of Clarksville is an annual fundraiser for the Middle Tennessee March of Dimes. It is held in October of each year and highlights the best of local businesses in the Clarksville area.
Residents cast their nominations in the Leaf-Chronicle prior to the event. The nominations are tallied up, and the community is invited to attend the event to vote for the 'Best of Clarksville' in each of the categories.
The annual event allows local business owners to set up a booth for the community to sample their products and see what the business has to offer. The night is filled with free gifts, food samples and a variety of entertainment. Winners are announced at the end of the night and topped off with a fireworks finale!
The cost is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. 100% of the money generated from the Best of Clarksville is donated to the Middle Tennessee March of Dimes.
What a great fundraising project for our community to undertake. Way to go Clarksville, TN. Events like this is what makes Clarksville the best place to live.
Keeping up with maintenance can help retain your home's value and avoid costly and unexpected repairs.
Here are a few tips to keep your home in great shape
* check that attic or roof space after major storms or heavy rains for leakage or water damage.
* Direct downspouts away from your home to minimize water damage to the foundation. Remove leaves and other debris from gutters and downspouts to avoid overflow and poor drainage.
* Fill small cracks in the sidewalks and driveway to prevent erosion and keep water out.
* Check the exterior including siding, windows and doors for cracked, deteriorated wood,peeling paint or other damage. Replace weather stripping and re-caulk where necessary.
*Fix any water leaks and drips immediatley. Leaky toilets or faucets can waste 10 - 20 gallons of water a day.
* Have your furnace and air conditioners checked annually to be sure they are running efficently. Replace filters in your heating/cooling system monthly.
* Drain water from your water heater every 6 months to remove sediment that could damage the unit.
