dee nofziger: There is No Greater Profession Than That of a Sales Professional - 03/21/12 10:34 AM
There is No Greater Profession Than That of a Sales Professional. That's what I believe with my whole heart. It's probably hard to believe that I'm serious, but I am. It's hard to believe me, because real estate agents and sales people in general continue to get a bad rap. Just because of a few bad apples here and there.

The truth is there is no greater calling.
Think about it ... if a doctor is a good salesperson, that doctor can sell their patients on taking their medicine and taking care of themselves ... that doctor can save their lives.
If a teacher is a good salesperson, that … (0 comments)

dee nofziger: For the Lavishing's Sake - 03/19/12 10:01 AM
For the Lavishing's Sake. I love that phrase. The first time I ever heard it was recently, in a Mike Pallin blog post. It just really stuck with me. It has such a decadent rhythm to it. In reality the meaning behind it is something so much more.
I've always been a big proponent of the 212 principle. You know, the belief that water is pretty darn hot at 211 degrees, but at 212 degrees it boils, which can power a locomotive? The belief that just that one little degree can make all the difference?
Well, that's what "for the lavishing's sake" … (0 comments)

dee nofziger: Oxymoron Diaries | Delicious Buffet - 03/17/12 07:53 AM
Oxymoron Diaries | Delicious Buffet. Another back-from-Vegas entry into The Oxymoron Diaries.
Buffets always sound good in theory. But face it, after a long day do you really want to stand in line to pay for your food, stand in line to get a table, stand in line to grab a chicken leg, stand in line for a diet coke, and then stand in line for dessert ... all while hanging on to your meal ticket, your purse, your jacket, and your kids simultaneously?
Throw the location in there and a Vegas Buffet is anywhere from 25 to 50 bucks. Serious … (8 comments)

dee nofziger: Oxymoron Diaries | Frugal Gambler - 03/16/12 10:48 AM
Oxymoron Diaries | Frugal Gambler. Just back from Vegas and as I said in my recent post, Oxymoron Diaries|Comfortable Stilettos, Sin City is ripe for the pickin' when it comes to oxymorons.
Today's addition is Frugal Gambler. Since my feet were killing me on a number of occasions, I really had no choice but to grab the nearest stool and sit down. Not my fault that the only available stools in Vegas are smack dab in front of slot machines, right? Right! Since I have a rather addictive personality, thank goodness the stools were all in front of the penny slots!

dee nofziger: Ask the Experts and Parade of Techniques for March 16, 2012 - 03/16/12 08:51 AM
Ask the Experts and Parade of Techniques for March 16, 2012. it's been a few weeks since I did an Ask the Experts and Parade of Techniques post. I've got some great stuff gathered from our R Squared calls.

Question - The weather has been uncharacteristically warm recently for winter, so I need help staying on track and not just going outside to play! What should I do to stay on track?
Stay true to your SMART Week. Nice weather gets people looking at houses, so use the weather to your advantage and hold some Open Houses! Hold Open Houses … (1 comments)

dee nofziger: Oxymoron Diaries | Short Sale - 03/13/12 03:03 PM
Oxymoron Diaries | Short Sale. I've been involved in the real estate business in some way, shape or form for nearly a decade. I am also a writer whose current project is The Oxymoron Diaries|Twelve Ounce Poundcake. I got to thinking about real estate and oxymorons and immediately came up with the term Short Sale as an oxymoron.
Why? That's easy. How many realtors have had to explain to a buyer that the term Short Sale was not slang for "it will take a very short time to get to closing?" Right. All of you. In fact, the opposite is true, … (35 comments)

dee nofziger: Oxymoron Diaries | Comfortable Stilettos - 03/13/12 01:38 PM
Oxymoron Diaries | Comfortable Stilettos. I'm just back from a meeting in Las Vegas and boy, oh boy, was it ripe with oxymorons. First on my list is Comfortable Stilettos. Hard as a tried, my feet were a hurtin' from the git go.
I needed to wear heels for my meetings so I had no choice. And my new blue suit was a bit conservative and the length on the skirt was about an inch too long. The only thing I could do to change that quickly was to up my heel height, right? Yeah, right. Ouch.
Believe me when I say … (2 comments)

Oxymoron Diaries | Easy to Follow Directions
Yeah, right.
I can remember years ago in my previous life the dryer broke down. This was way back. Way, way back. I was 22 years old, two little kids, our first house and we were broke, broke, broke. And like I said, the dryer broke down.
Did I mention that we didn't use disposable diapers? No? Well, we didn't use disposable diapers. For those of you out there scratching your head about that statement, that means that all those diapers were cloth and I had to wash and dry after use.
Yea, wash … (2 comments)

dee nofziger: Oxymoron Diaries | Disposable Plastic - 03/07/12 09:57 AM
Oxymoron Diaries | Disposable Plastic.

We recycle. Truly we do. At least we try our best to try our best. Unfortunately, I just walked into our family room and took one look at the two Golden Doodles, Cappy and Izzy, and realized that our efforts at re-cycling may be a bit, shall we say, for naught.
Cappy and Izzy are the true recyclers at our home since there isn't much left to throw away after they've chewed on everything in sight. If you want proof, click here for my blog post titled Things My Dog Ate This Week.
The problem is that … (4 comments)

The Oxymoron Diaries | Twelve Ounce Poundcake | Didi O'Neil | Excerpt from Chapter Nine | Big Sip. (Used with permission of the author.)
“I didn’t hire you to think straight. I hired you for your slightly askew perspectives. And I have the utmost faith in you. So do Fritz and Alfredo. They’ve given me carte blanche to offer you anything you want. They’re even talking syndication.” She held up a folder of paperwork. “You can’t pass up this opportunity.”      I sat silently, my thoughts racing. “I’ll have to think about this,” I finally said.      “Go ahead, think … (2 comments)

dee nofziger: March First is Just Around the Corner. Do You Know Where Your Goals Are? - 02/22/12 06:56 AM
March First is Just Around the Corner. Do You Know Where Your Goals Are? If you're the typical real estate agent, you sort of have a game plan in your head at the end of the year. But you see no real hurry, since January is slow anyway right? You can get up to speed with your goals during that "down time." (Huge misconception about January, but that's for another post.)
Then your game plan doesn't get implemented in January either, since January is actually a rather BUSY month!
Then February rolls around and it dawns on you that you still haven't … (2 comments)

dee nofziger: A Surprisingly Inspirational Good Bye to Whitney Houston - 02/20/12 10:55 AM
To my great surprise Whitney Houston's funeral service touched my heart in many ways. A very faithful group of people were in attendance. Faithful to her yes, but also faithful to God. It was a gentle, yet powerful reminder that we all have our faults, our vices, our failings. But we are still loved. Every day God gives us a clean slate and renews our heart in preparation to receive his grace. Every day. Just because Whitney had her demons doesn't mean she wasn't a faithful child of God. He loves us, demons and all.
A large part of me is angry - … (0 comments)

dee nofziger: If Vampires were Real Estate Agents - 02/17/12 01:14 PM
If Vampires were Real Estate Agents ... Okay, I admit it. I'm a Vampire Junkie. "Twilight" - all four books and all of the movies. "Vampire Diaries" on TV. "Dark Shadows" in the '60s, in the 90's and can't wait for Johnny Depp's portrayal of Barnabus Collins coming to the big screen soon. "Underworld" with Kate Beckinsale. Yep, that one, too. "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" books and many many others. "Being Human" (both the US and British versions). Pretty much anything and everything vampire grabs my attention. Not sure why, but I think it's because when I was a kid I … (6 comments)

Ask the Experts and Parade of Techniques|February 17 2012. Another great round of R Squared's Ask the Experts and Parade of Techniques with past Floyd Wickman Graduates. The guys really out-did themselves this week. Here's a sampling ...
ASK THE EXPERTS
I need listings!
Match up your current buyers' search criteria to expired listings. Call the seller and tell them you may have an interested buyer (which is the TRUTH!) This serves two purposes. 1. it helps your buyer find a home and 2. it gets you in the door of an expired (who has already admitted a need, as they were … (2 comments)

dee nofziger: Things My Dog Ate This Week - 02/14/12 07:38 PM
Things My Dog Ate This Week. Thought I'd start keeping track of what goes through our dogs' digestive tracts, in case the vet needs to know for emergency exploratory surgery. I'm sure the list is twice as long as what's below.
I am making them both watch Night Two of Westminster Kennel Club Dog show so they can see how dogs are SUPPOSED to act. They will also notice that the treats the handlers give these dogs are smaller then erasers, not larger than melons.
1. Eyeglasses
2. Eyeglass case
3. One winter boot
4. Sentrilock card
5. Bluetooth earpiece

dee nofziger: Finally Some Snow for Cappy Callahan the Goldendoodle - 02/12/12 02:39 PM
Finally Some Snow for Cappy Callahan the Goldendoodle. Having brought Cappy Callahan the Goldendoodle home last May, he had yet to enjoy the fun of a NW Ohio snowstorm. Finally Mother Nature took pity on him and gave him his wish - a romp in the snow. As a real estate professional (R Squared Coach) I hear from agents all the time how the weather can interfere with their day. Appointments cancelled, cold toes in vacant properties (it's usually colder INSIDE a vacant property than OUTSIDE!), unshovelled drives and sidewalks, plus a variety of other headaches. It's nice to be able … (3 comments)

Take a peak at some of today's best advice and ideas ...
Parade of Techniques included the following
Start forming relationships with agents in nearby MLS areas who could refer your services in your own area and vice versa. Plan some informal get-togethers at restaurants and coffee houses or even your offices. Sometimes buyers can't find what they want and decide to move their search down the road. Wouldn't it be great to … (2 comments)
