And quit praying for snow!!!  I think we've had enough already and my back can't take another day of shoveling the driveway.  Saw this on the way back from a Defiance Ohio Home Inspection and I just had to share.  In the light of things, I got a good chuckle from it.  So now I'm praying, for whoever's praying for the snow, to please heed the sign's message. Thanks!  And I'm sure others will thank you too.

Attention anyone east of Beverly Hills, CA - Are you familiar with Jed "Clamp-itt"'s work? - 02/12/10 08:06 AM
You all remember good ole Jed Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies, right? (I know you're whistling the tune right now). Well it appears that Jed's fortunes have run amuck and now Mr. "Clamp-itt" has had to take on another endeavor to make ends meet. He is now practicing as an electrician in the State of Ohio.
Now my dilemma is that I'm not familiar with his practices and need help uncovering the defects. Perhaps my electrical training hasn't been so good, because I'm not familiar with these wiring practices. So I ask you, especially you westerners who may have encountered some of his work … (10 comments)

Geothermal systems & homeowners insurance - 02/10/10 08:30 AM
Just found out that Progressive Insurance®, at this time, is not insuring homes that have geothermal heat systems installed.  Reasoning:  An unproven system that hasn't withstood the test of time, at least this is what I've concurred after endless research.  There may be other companies as well, but this is the only major company that I currently know of.  I've added information in my report library to include this info, you may want to as well - your clients should know.

Sometimes inspectors can find some ghastly stuff in the bathroom, especially if the house is being lived in (more-so with children).  Lack of cleanliness, irregular housekeeping, or a houseful of boys sometimes are to blame.  But the area around and behind the toilet almost always exhibits some not-so pleasant observations. Usually "Over-shooters" or "Sprayers" (males of course) are the culprits of un-cleanliness or discoloration at the base of the toilet.  After all, who likes cleaning down there... yechhhhh!  But sometimes, there are other tell-tale signs.  In this case, the "X" led me straight to the defect at hand, … (6 comments)
