Fall is my favorite time of year. The crisp air, the vivid colors, the renewed energy...I wish it would last longer!
I almost missed the leaves changing this year in Florence. My family and I had left for a week's vacation on Oct. 31st, and nothing much had happened. Because of the low rainfall in the Shoals this year, I thought we might not see all of the colors. I was wrong! We got back and in just that week's time the trees had transformed.

It's been a long time (high school days) since I have been to one of those haunted houses that pop up around this time of year. My husband had been talking about wanting to go...so on the spur of the moment last night we decided to try one out!
Graystone Manor in Killen, AL has been rated as one of the best and scariest haunted attractions in the South. Collin Raye was in Florence this past Thursday evening for a performance to raise funds for Brooks Elementary, a local school in Killen. For those of you that did not see him, you missed quite a treat!
I have to admit that I almost didn't go...it was a school night (kids had to study for tests), I had a closing late in the day (not complaining about that!), the day had been hectic, no one had eaten dinner...you know how it goes.
