Southeastern Pennsylvania Climate - 02/28/08 12:05 AM
Southeastern Pennsylvania's climate differs from the rest of the state. This it due in large part to the Appalachian Mountains that outline the region which most of us from that area are familiar. Southeastern Pennsylvania is part of the Piedmont region, lying at the foothills of the mountains, which is also a sub-region in the greater Mid-Atlantic region. The area is identified as a separate climate division called Pennsylvania Southeastern Piedmont by the NOAA.This area, because of it's climate, has some of the best farmable land in the state, although it has been overtaken in some areas by development, especially as you get closer to Philadelphia. The State of Pennsylvania has established 5 main types of governing municipalities that are incorporated and recognized within it's counties: cities (several classes), boroughs, townships (several classes), towns and home rule charters. There are 2,567 municipalities in the state.A "Village", often identified by a roadside sign, is unincorporated, and is merely an historical locale without distinct boundaries. Home rule municipalities, a newer form of municipality first authorized in 1968, may still call themselves cities, boroughs and townships, but their government structural is different from that of a municipality following established state guidelines for a city, borough or township (or town). One of the first requests that a consumer should expect to receive from a licensed real estate agent is a request to view and sign a Consumer Notice (called a Consumer Information Statement in NJ and DE).Pennsylvania law requires that all agents present a Consumer Notice upon first contact with a real estate consumer. The purpose is to inform and explain to the consumer about the different forms of agency relationship and what real estate office the agent is licensed under and representing. The Pennsylvania state government is actively developing and implement laws to protect the local individual against identity threats. Just as with the federal government, the state government is focusing on making it harder to illegally obtain identity information by requiring users and holders of identity information to maintain proper protection procedures. Pennsylvania passed tougher laws which went into effect during 2006. The EPA recently posted on it's web site updated information discussing the results of two studies showing definitive evidence of an association between residential radon exposure and lung cancer. A North American study and a European study, both combined data from several previous residential studies. These two studies go a step beyond earlier findings. Findings Bottomline: Prolonged High Exposure to Radon = Lung Cancer Radon is a natural radioactive gas that you can't see, smell or taste.
