If the drought has made your yard look like a desert, then take a fresh look. Florida is not supposed to look like the desert Southwest, but some of our landscapes are beginning to bear resemblance. With water restrictions here to stay and getting stricter, maybe it's time to take another look at the plants in our yards. Tough plants are required for these tough times. These heat and drought tolerant varieties include trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials, annuals. Some of these plants are native to Florida and some are not and some can survive on natural rainfall once established. Here are (1 comments)

THE HAZARDS OF FORECLOSED HOMES............ - 07/20/09 09:09 PM
The abandoned properties proliferating neighborhoods are signs of the continuing recession. Foreclosed homes with pools are dangerous as the water becomes dark and dirty and turns into the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes some of which can spread such diseases as the West Nile virus. With pool water being dark and dirty it also can be a drowning hazard for small children. Other hazards include broken windows and doors making the property tempting targets for vandals. Once windows and doors are broken animals move in, along with mold and rot. It is unclear whose to blame if someone is injured or (1 comments)

The pro-longed economic downturn is taking years to reach a full turn for the better as housing values continue to decline due to the epidemic of foreclosed properties. The foreclosure market is robust, and forecasts indicate the number of foreclosures available for sale will increase in the coming months. It takes a long time to sell-off a record excess inventory of bargain properties. The surplus is at an all time high and the troubled lending industry is cutting prices to attract buyers. NEW THREAT TO THE HOUSING MARKET - 07/16/09 10:19 AM
The housing market is facing a new downward pressure as holders of sub-prime-mortgage bonds flood the market with foreclosed homes at prices much lower than where many banks are willing to sell. Experts say this is a bad omen for residential real-estate prices and homeowners trying to sell or re-finance, because the fire sales, many to cover soured sub-prime loans, put downward pressure on nearby homes. All of this undermines federal efforts to stabilize the housing market and revive the economy. Of all the foreclosed homes sold "2963" sold in the same time average only about 62% of the original loan (0 comments)

Tenants must get a 90 day notice to vacate prior to eviction. Further, if the lease was entered into before the foreclosure, the tenant may finish the lease term, except that the lease can be prematurely terminated upon 90 days notice if the property is sold to a purchaser who will occupy the property as a primary residence.
