Meet Canon City Business Owner Angela Cruz from Isagenix - 03/20/08 12:35 PM
Not long ago I was introduced to Angela Cruz from Isagenix in my Canon City Business Owners meeting. Here is a short interview I did with her. How long have you lived in the Canon City area? I moved here August 2006 What do you like the best about Fremont County? The sun! Coming from Seattle where you see more rain then sun. What have your challenges been since moving here? It's much colder here, I live 35 miles from Canon City in the mountains, but the worst is the wind we get in the winter, there fore meeting new people (0 comments)
Last month I was invited to the local Toastmasters group in town. A friend of mine was giving her "ice breaker" speech. I wanted to be supportive but unfortunately I had to show up late, very late and missed her presentation. But I arrived just in time to hear her critique, which was all good. Last night I was invited to attend this months Toastmasters. But once again my job prevented me from attending at all. However, the friend who had invited me filled me in on the fun. My friend was in charge to the table topics. This apparently is (3 comments)

I have nothing to tell you - 03/18/08 07:02 PM
Real Estate is a competitive occupation, no news there. But I try to set myself apart from my competition by calling my current and potential buyers and sellers at least once a week. Even if I just call to tell them I have nothing to tell them. I'll even e-mail a few and tell them that their listing received no calls this week but had so-many hits on the MLS. To call a buyer or seller just to let them know I'm still thinking about them and I'm still breathing. I have a seller who went under contract today! In 55 (6 comments)
Like so many other Realtors who blog I've found that blogging has many benefits: Blogging relaxes my brain and I focus on my own thoughts. Blogging gets me recognized on Search EnginesBlogging makes the phone ring, e-mails show up and contacts are madeBlogging helps me organize my thoughts and lettersBlogging helps me advertise my listingsBlogging brings me buyersBlogging has made me many friends Blogging gives me referrals and resourcesBlogging gives me an excuse to take more photographsBlogging taught me many, many things about the InternetBlogging lets me play with Alt Tags ---->Blogging impresses sellers, friends and familyBlogging is FUN! Last week I received not one but two contacts about a building in Coal Creek Colorado. Both people "found" this property for sale on EBay. I was asked to investigate and give my brokers price opinion prior to the deadline. The building was listed as build in "1997". After some investigation I found the building is much, much older. Most likely built in the late 1800's - early 1900's I could not verify water or sewer. And the asking price of $5000 with out utilities was way out of range. Today Coal Creek is occupied by approx 300 residents. Once a thriving coal (6 comments)
How Green is the Future? Part 2 - 03/10/08 05:14 PM
This is a follow up on a post I wrote about How Green is the Future? In the February / March issue of Smart Energy Living - Energy Solutions for Colorado Home Owners, there is an article "Students Scrutinize Family Energy Use." In this short article Pam Packer writes about teacher April Lanotte of Simla High School. This teacher challenger her students to participate in the Smart Energy Livings Home Energy Investigation Contest. The students learn what happens when they use energy from flipping on a light switch to how to read the electric bill. What a practical application for kids saving (4 comments)
Why 24 hours is necessary before a showing - 03/08/08 02:51 PM
Often I have potential buyers call and want to see a property with little or no notice. I acknowledge 24 hours isn't always possible and you might loose the buyer. But there are plenty of good reasons 24 hours is a good idea.

Meet Canon City Business Owner Jodi Mews from Send Out Cards - 03/05/08 01:22 PM
An Interview with Jodi Mews from Send Out Cards What got you into the card business? I've always been a "card sender" and when I was in sales for a major Hotel Chain, they always used to encourage us to keep in touch with our clients on a regular basis. That was hard to do on a consistent basis because you were just busy keeping up with your daily job related tasks. I started a business, Creative Rapport, that helped business professionals keep in touch with their clients and through Creative Rapport, I discovered SendOutCards. What do you like about it? I love being (1 comments)

How Green is the Future? The 2nd Annual Green is Red Hot Contest - 03/03/08 07:27 PM
For janeannes 2nd Annual Green is Red Hot Contest I started thinking about the future. The newest, most over used buzz word around the U.S. now seems to be "green". I can't help but wonder how effective the word "green" really is. So for a limited experiment I interviewed two girls whose mother works in my building. Katelyn is 10 years and in 4th grade and Sophie is 7 years and in 1st grade. The interview started by asking both girls questions about what they knew about things that were "green" about saving energy and about being healthy. Right away Katelyn told (13 comments)
5 Things to tell your buyers and sellers who are on the fence. - 03/02/08 12:56 PM
I recently came across an article from Blanche Evans entitled "5 Things to Tell Buyers on the Fence" Blanche says "It's high time we told buyers (and sellers, for that matter) the truth about whether a home is a good investment." In this article the writer compares home ownership to owning stocks. Here are the 5 things Blanche suggested 1) Leverage - " With stocks you put in all your money for a little piece of a company. With a house, you put in a little money to get the entire house" 2) Tax benefits - "Consider the benefits of fixed-rate mortgages, (5 comments)
