pam simmons: New tax incentives for Old Homes - 02/23/09 05:04 PM
Save the planet by making an old home energy efficient
Better tax credits for increasing the energy efficiency of your existing home. WOW that makes sense. Previously there was a $200 cap on replacement windows. Now it is $1500 tax credit for all energy efficient projects. Don't get me wrong I love the idea of building more energy efficient homes; it makes great sense that as we build new homes we build them to ever increasing standards that match the new technology available. However, retrofitting an existing home with energy efficient features is much more carbon and cost efficient than … (11 comments)

pam simmons: Sunfest 2008 - 08/29/08 06:59 PM
On Wednesday August 28 I was invited to go to Sunfest, held in Denver at the Coors Field parking lot. I was a guest of Allied Building Supply, thanks Pam Simmons, Gregg Chostner and Jake Walker.

This solar event was the place to meet like minded people, visit with company representatives and enjoy the day. Despite the fact that the DNC was nominating Barack Obama the traffic inside the event was good and the traffic on the roads was also good. I went around passing out my business cards and explaining to the people I met why they should have … (3 comments)

pam simmons: Colorado is a Hail of a place! - 08/07/08 03:12 PM
Colorado is one "hail" of a place. Pun intended. With the huge demand for roofing in our area due to the hail storms, high winds and tornados. I see dump truck after dump truck of shingles being torn off roofs to make way for the new shingles; I have often thought about the fact that there has to be a way to recycle those old shingles instead of putting them into the landfills. Pueblo currently has an even larger problem with the closure of one major landfill and dump fees sky rocketing along with the cost of shingles. I am very … (5 comments)

pam simmons: Pueblos Own - Grays Coors Tavern, Community, Birthdays, Food! - 06/15/07 01:42 PM
A local Pueblo landmark, Greys Coors Tavern sits downtown on 4th street. The emphasis at this favorite place is the food and the community. Well known for it's "Sloppers" and singing "happy birthday backwards." For those not in the know "Sloppers" are topless burgers served in a bowl covered in green chilli, cheese, onions and fries.
If you are like my friend Patty, you get sung to by the owners. They stood with their backs to us (Happy Birthday backwards!) Patty was joined by Pam Beehm from New Image Drywall, Pam Simmons from Allied Building Supply, Donna Phillips and Dena Stevens … (1 comments)
