Okaloosa County in Northwest Florida is going to have a problem in the next few years. We are going to have a shortage of housing! The military installations in our area will have an influx of 4500 additional personnel to coincide with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC). This means there will be an estimated total population increase of 11,000 people by 2016. At our two installations, Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field AFB, the current government housing availability will actually decrease by 573 homes located on base.
