Recent rains have improved draught conditions in the area. The topsoil moisture and stream flows have benefited as as as the longer term hydro-logic impacts. That is not say the worst is behind us as the area is still 3.28 inches behind normal so far this year.

It looks like Suffolk will have a higher tax assessment this year as will all the cities in the surrounding area. Suffolk overall tax increase will be 4.4%. This is the smallest increase in years and the city is scrambling to deal with the fallout from a smaller tax increase.
