You won't want to miss out on this years Street Painting Festival in Old Town Temecula June 24th-26th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Starting the kick off of for "Temecula's Hot Summer nights" and scheduled summer concerts at the Town Square around 6:00 p.m. As the first day of Summer June 21st begins, what better way to kick if off than by attending this FREE annual event! Time to get out the sunscreen, and get ready to start enjoying the beautiful summer weather here in sunny california!

Last year my family and I attended the Temecula Street Chalk Painting festival for the first time. It was so Fun! We had a great time seeing and talking with some the the fine artist that participated in the event. There is also a section marked off so that the kids can chalk paint on a 4 x 6' square, and they even provided the chalk and sponges for the kids to use! Here are some of the photo's I took last year that will give you a taste on what to expect while attending this fabulous event.

The Riverside Parks and Recreation Department, and Community Services Department will be hosting the 5th annual Mariachi Festival.

Where: Fairmount Regional Park – 2601 Fairmount Blvd. Riverside.

10th Annual Walk for Health on September 27th, 2008

The 10th annual "Walk for Health" Hosted by The Foundation for Community and Family Health will be held this Saturday, September 27th, 2008. The City of Corona, and thousands of Inland Empire residents will gather together on the South Lawn of Corona City Hall to join the cause and fight against Breast Cancer. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness & funds for the Breast Health Detection program. The Breast Health Detection program was created to help women under 40 who have no insurance or who are under insured. The program will provide women the necessary breast diagnostic care they need, as well as health screenings and prevention education. The Citrus-themed water playground is Corona’s very first water park. The parks design element is based from Corona’s Citrus history with plenty of seating around the park shaped like old fruit box crates, with an Orange shaped playground which includes 11 interactive water features.There are water tunnels, water cannons, an aqua dome, and spraying jets. The park is almost 3,000 square feet and uses 4,000 gallons of water, which is captured and cleaned for reuse.

The Water Park was primarily the idea born from Michael and Mary Vasquez of Corona, who are the owners of Miguel Junior’s family Restaurant chain. The Vasquez family would frequently visit Corona’s City Park on Sunday with their children, and wanted to give back to the community as well as to honor Michael who is suffering with Kidney failure. Please remember to keep him in prayer.

The Vasquez family graciously donated $250,000 as a gift to help construct the park. The parks total cost was approx. $700,000 to build, and mostly funded by private donations. Thanks to the City of Corona’s Park and Recreation Department and to all who have contributed in the cost and construction.

The parks new water feature is generating neighborhood excitement, and is sure to be a big Splash hit for all who visit!

Purple Ribbon Month in Corona- August, 2008

Throughout Corona, Purple ribbons are hung every August in memory of 6-month-old Kaitlyn Russell. In August 2000 Kaitlyn was left alone in her babysitter’s car for at least two hours while the sitter visited with friends.

Authorities estimated the temperature had reached 130 degrees in the locked car by the time the child was found.

Purple Ribbon month is sponsored by a nonprofit organization called, "4 R Kids’ Sake." This organization was established by Kaitlyn Russels family in effort to educate the public of the danger of leaving children unattended in an vehicle.

In 2001, The California State Legislature, passed "Kaitlyn's Law," also known as the “Unattended Child in a Motor Vehicle Act.” It is illegal for any child younger than 6 to be left in an automobile without the supervision of an individual 12 years of age or older. Violations can result in a $100 fine. For more information call:

Effective July 1st 2008 - IRS Increases Business Mileage Rates Deductions

For those of you that might not of heard the IRS has announced some Good news! Due to the recent increase for gasoline, for the remaining 6 months starting July 1, 2008 to the end of this year the IRS has made a special adjustment to increase business mileage deductions from 50.5 cents to 58.5. This is an increase of eight cents per mile!

The IRS normally updates the mileage rates once a year in the fall for the next calendar year. The IRS Commissioner Doug Shuman notes that rising gas prices are having a major impact on individual Americans. And to be fair to taxpayers they are increasinging the reimbursement rate to the real cost of operating an automobile.

The IRS also increased milaeage expenses for medical or moving from .19 cents per mile to .27 cents. This is great information to pass on for any of your clients who are planning a move.

Make sure to keep a business record for all your business miles driven. This will help with your 2008 cost of doing business right offs.

State Route 91 Corridor Improvement Project Public Meeting- 7/29/08

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in cooperation with Riverside County Transportation (RCTC) is hosting a public meeting to discuss improvements to State Route (SR) 91 between SR-241 in Anaheim and Pierce Street in Riverside. Also included is Interstate-15 fwy. between Cajalco Road and Hidden Valley Parkway.

*The purpose of this meeting in an Open House style format is to provide an early exchange of ideas, comments or concerns about these proposed projects. All comments will become a part of the public record.*

Proposed project: Widen State Route to improve travel conditions between Orange & Riverside County.

4th of July Festival & Fireworks display at Santana Park huge Success!

The City of Corona’s NEW LOCATION for 4th of July Festival & Fireworks display at Santana Park
was a huge success. There were games, Balloon slides, a rock climbing wall, a bucking bull rodeo
ride, live music and plenty of food.

There were also huge big screen monitors placed in several locations in the park to view The
parks live band entertainment and military tribute to our nations hero's.

The park was beaming with excitement while families spent a fun filled day together honoring
the United States of America 232nd Birthday!

It was officially announced later in the evening by Mayor Jeff Miller that all future celebrations
will continue to be held at Santana Park. The fireworks display was simply spectacular!

With special thanks to the Parks & Community Services Department and their Sponsors,
City officials and all who participated and gave of their time & hard work into making this
4th of July Celebration one of Corona’s Best!

Her latest series of artworks are based from the Animation cel, shadow boxes, watercolor and color line to the Floating Image - a shadow line trapped between two different surfaces.

Inspired by her children and students’ art work, Reema saw the potential to capture a moment in time. Cherishing her child’s work, while remembering what they look like at that moment.

A line image is drawn on glass by Reema, while using the young artist’s work as a background. Then, in the right lighting conditions, the line image creates the shadow, a “Floating Image”. The moment is captured... Caught in the Act.

The Corona Police Community Partnership and the Corona Fire Foundation are pleased to present:

"The Great Taste of Corona!" This event allows participants to sample cuisine from some of Corona's finest restaurants in one location.

This event will take place at 1250 Corona Pointe Court, Corona CA 92879 just behind Lowe's off the 15 fwy & Magnolia.

This event will be on June 7th from 5:00pm.-8:00pm.

Tickets will be: Adults$20.00 in advance & $25.00 at the door.
Children (ages 3-9) $5.00 in advance or $8.00 at the door.

You can purchase tickets April 15 to June 6 online or at the Corona Police Dept. Main Station • 849 W. Sixth St., Corona Fire Dept. Headquarters, 1st Floor of City Hall • 400 S. Vicentia Ave., or any CPCP or CFSF board member.

Come join the Corona Police Department for an afternoon with your favorite Characters from Star Wars.

When: Saturday June 1st 2008
Time: 12:00pm-4:00pm
Where: The Corona Public Library
650 S. Main Street, Corona

*Show your support in the fight against Cancer! Have your photo taken with your favorite characters from Star Wars for a $5.00 donation. All the proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society.*
