Trials & Tribulations of Moving... My Website That Is... - 11/25/10 01:59 PM
I now have a live feed on my site from the Iowa City Area MLS. All the real estate listings you find there now are updated every 15 minutes so you can be sure you have the most current information on homes for sale in the Iowa City area. Previously I was getting my information from Google Base. A great source for real estate, but unfortunately not always accurate. Hence the change. No more stale listings on my site. As soon as an agent enters a new listing or changes the status of a listing on the MLS it will show

It Sucks to Be a Seller Right Now - They Need Our Help - 11/20/10 05:15 PM
J Philip Faranda wrote a post this week that got me thinking. He takes sellers to task for canceling showings. It's a wonderfully humourous post and if you missed it you should really check it out. He makes some great points, but once again I had a WTH? moment. (My second this week). What about the agents? Where do they fit in this picture? I actually have a problem with the concept that the seller should be on top of everything and know how to behave in all situations. Is the seller the one living and breathing real estate? Nope, that's

Do you know how OLD your tires are? Your life could depend on it. - 11/20/10 12:46 AM
I don't reblog very often, but Cynthia has put together a really important post here with valuable information. Checking your tires is a serious matter all year round and that goes double in winter. I had new tires put on my car just a couple of weeks ago. I guess I'll be out there tomorrow checking to see just how "new" they are. Via Cynthia Larsen - Sonoma County Real Estate (Safe Haven Realty): When my family met in Grants Pass Oregon for an annual gathering, my brother's motor home had two tires that virtually exploded on his way South. He was pretty

Harry Potter Rules: New Movies in Iowa City + Coralville November 19, 2010 - 11/18/10 09:18 PM
Big weekend at the movies this weekend. The most anticipated movie of the year is out tonight at midnight. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. This is the seventh and last installment of the much loved Harry Potter series. Of course they're making a two part nail biter out of it. Why wouldn't they? After a 10 year run a sudden death scenario would be very unsatisfying for fans. (Not to mention less profitable). Movie times - schedules: Coral Ridge Cinema in Coralville - Phone # 319-625-1010Sycamore Cinema in Iowa City - Phone # 319-351-8383There is actually a second

Who Says Email and Text Messaging is not Personal? It's not the Way You Communicate that Matters - It's the How You Do it that Counts - 11/16/10 12:04 PM
Lately I keep running into articles and blog posts that claim email and text messaging are not a personal form of communication. The only true and tested way to "get personal" is by picking up the phone or meeting a person face to face. Who says..? The written word has always had the capability of being personal. There are libraries full of books with personal experiences that touch our souls when we read them. There's this very platform where the written word is what binds us. We form friendships here. Through our posts. That's personal. And then there's the the letter.

North Liberty IA Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 Compared to October 2009 - 11/04/10 11:01 PM
North Liberty IA Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 Compared to October 2009 21 homes sold in North Liberty in October 2010 compared to 35 homes sold in October 2009. The expiration of the homebuyer tax credit has certainly had a negative impact on the North Liberty real estate market. Fortunately North Liberty has done very well in the last couple of years as one of the fastest growing towns in Iowa, so there's no reason to think it won't bounce back fairly quickly. Especially considering the low interest rates and "winter prices" on houses right now. Highest

Coralville IA Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 Compared to October 2009 - 11/04/10 12:43 PM
Coralville IA Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 Compared to October 2009 13 homes sold in Coralville in October 2010 compared to 18 homes sold in October 2009. Not very encouraging numbers considering home sales in Coralville were up last month. We have a very choppy market at the moment, making it difficult to analyze short term data. One thing remains constant though - It continues to be a great market for buyers! Highest number of days on market: 205 daysLowest number of days on market: 5 days The source for the data used in all my market reports

Iowa City Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 Compared to October 2009 - 11/03/10 09:42 PM
Iowa City Real Estate: Market Statistics October 2010 compared to October 2009 43 homes sold in Iowa City in October 2010 compared to 54 homes sold in October 2009. That's a 20% decrease over last year - A pretty strong sign that the Iowa City real estate market is still struggling to find its feet again after the expiration of the home buyer tax credit. The economy is improving, interest rates are still in the low 4's and there are great deals to be had on homes. Now that the election is over maybe people will re-focus their attention on

Suffering from Election Overload? This Will Help... - 11/02/10 07:20 PM
It's been a busy day and I was feeling a little rough around the edges when I found a link to this from a good friend in my inbox... Nothing relieves stress more than seeing pets play, (except maybe seeing kids play that is). Of course the music probably helped, not to mention the fact that it's filmed at the sea - One of my favorite places to be. Whatever way you slice or dice it though, these are some very smart dogs having a lot of fun!
