Home Sales Up - Market Snapshot Coralville IA November 30, 2011 - 11/30/11 07:18 PM
After reporting on the continuing positive trend in the real estate market in Iowa City I thought it was about time that I took a look at the other areas I service. Today it's Coralville's turn. The good news is that home sales are also up in Coralville. In fact home sales in Coralville this year are more than double what they were last year in November. 22 Homes sold sold in November 2011 compared to 9 homes sold last year. There are 17 homes Sale Pending or Contingent. (Sale Pending or Contingent means they have accepted offers that may still have

Market Snapshot Iowa City November 21, 2011 - 11/21/11 11:52 PM
November is shaping up to be another good month for the Iowa City real estate market. 36 homes sold in Iowa City this month to date. 37 homes sold last year in November so we're on track to beat that number easily by the end of the month. 55 homes are listed as pending or contingent. There are 355 homes currently showing as Active Listings on the Iowa City MLS. Probably the best thing about these numbers is that the number of active listings is going down. A couple of months ago we had 450+ homes on the market in Iowa City. It's nice

Homes Sold in Iowa City October 2011 Compared to October 2010 - 11/11/11 07:29 PM
Home sales are up in October for the 4th straight month in Iowa City. 62 homes sold in Iowa City in October 2011 compared to 43 homes sold in October 2010. That's a lot of homes for this late in the year. That reflects a 44% increase over last year and a 63% increase compared to last month. (38 homes sold in September). Quite impressive numbers as we march towards the end of the year. What may be even more surprising than the positive trend in the number of homes sold in Iowa City is that the inventory levels of homes on

Indian Dance & Music at the CCPA Saturday November 12, 2011 - 11/11/11 07:21 PM
The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts has become one of my favorite places to write about when it comes to my posts about what to do in the Iowa City area at the weekends. There is so much variation in their program that I end up introducing something new almost every week. Flavors: A Feast of Dance and Music from India is the program that caught my eye for this week. This is a chance to learn a little about India and support a good cause too as proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The performance will showcase major classical dance

Pinocchio & Poetic Rebound at the CCPA November 5, 2011 - 11/04/11 05:50 PM
Right after we spend a month filled with scariness and spookiness we move right into the Holiday Season. Funny how that happens, don't you think? You only need to switch on your TV to see what I mean. Talk about what a difference a day makes, or in the case of local events, a week! Last week Rocky Horror, this week Pinocchio. That's what we call diametrically different directions... This weekend we have quite a treat for the kids with the The Old Creamery Theatre Company coming to town to perform Pinocchio at The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. That's happening on Saturday morning,

A Pretty Day on the East Side of Iowa City - 11/01/11 06:37 PM
We are enjoying absolutely beautiful Fall weather in Iowa at the moment, in stark contrast to to our friends on the East Coast who are getting hammered with winter storms. Yesterday I was over on the east side of Iowa City picking up an earnest money check and felt really lucky to have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Fall foliage. As I've said before, I was never much of a fan of Autumn in Europe, way too much rain for me. Here is Iowa it's a different story. It really doesn't get much better than this. Blue skies, perfect temps and
