My getaway place is the Mountains of North Carolina.We can get to the Mountains from Pinehurst in only 3 hours!This view is from a trail along the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of Linville Falls.This was taken during the summer and the views are amazing no matter what the season.It will render you 'Speechless'! I have a few ideas for Basil & Bree Bree's costumes this year. The photos here show them as 'Bride & Groom' from a Pet Parade a few years ago. WOW...we've had the most beautiful weather here in Pinehurst so far this Fall Season. A little warmer than the 'norm', but very pleasant for all outdoor activities. Golf, of course, is the game of choice here in Pinehurst! I admit that I don't get out on the golf course as much as I should. I certainly could use the practice!!! I didn't have any real estate appointments yesterday, so we went out early to get in 9 holes. "HAWKEYE"!!! This BIG guy scared the *&^#@ out of me while I was planting annuals by my mailbox the other day. I was bent down digging in the dirt and I heard a couple of loud 'thuds', like something falling out of the trees. I look up to see this HUGE bird fly over me and make a u-turn back to my backyard. I then hear the squirrels going crazy, making their high-pitched distress calls. I saw the BIG BIRD land and I couldn't believe how big he was. Cooler weather is on the way this weekend. A sure sign of fall weather and the holiday season!!! This past weekend I took a drive up Hwy 15-501 just North of Pinehurst in search of a pumpkin and some gourds for my fall display by my front door. There is a great little 'Pumpkin Patch' located right on Hwy 15-501...you can't miss it. Just look for the signs on the side of the highway. One of the GREAT things about living in central North Carolina is the proximity to the beaches AND the mountains. From Pinehurst, I can be in the North Carolina mountains within 3 1/2 hours. The NC mountains are my weekend getaway place. I LOVE it all year round! I enjoy hiking with my dogs and they really love it, too!!!
If you've never been and you live here in North Carolina, then you must plan a trip to go soon. Fall is one of the most beautiful times to visit our NC mountains.

My Rain Barrel is FULL!...Yeah! But, My Roof Is Leaking!...Oh No! It is a ‘bad' sign when I tap out my rain barrel. I don't even know how many gallons of water it holds, but I know it takes me a very long time to use all the water that it contains when it is full. I used the last of the water in the barrel last Thursday before I left town for the weekend.
