Yesterday, I provided a brief historical insight into "What is meant by Imperial Calcasieu" and "Why does Louisina have Parishes instead of Counties."
Here, I want to present Calcasieu Parish. Calcasieu Parish consists of the following cities and towns:
Lake Charles (The Parish Seat) Sulphur Westlake DeQuincy Vintion Iowa The name "Calcasieu" is derived from the Atakapan word, "quelqueshue" which translates to "crying eagle" (some say "screaming eagle"). Legend has it that this was the name of an Attakapas Indian chief who emitted a cry similar to an eagle as he approached a battle.

Middle-class home buyers in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis Parish have been provided with a new resource thanks to the Calcasieu Parish Trust Authority. This resources comes in the form of a mortgage credit certificate program.

Planning for Our Today and Our Children’s tomorrow.
Late 2007 I received an invitation on behalf of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to participate in a task force compiled of a cross section of our community. Each member brought a different discipline, talent, and view point, but a common objective to effectively plan for the future development of Calcasieu Parish.

calcasieu: From the Ashes shall rise... - 04/05/08 01:24 PM
It was not ashes, but tons and hundreds of thousands of tons of timber loss resulting from Hurricane Rita.
These stacks of timber were waiting to be shipped out and converted to various by products such as bags of mulch.  It seemed to make us feel better to know that our beloved trees were not going to be totally lost forever.  They would in some way find a new life.  There were other stories of "another life" for our beloved trees as well, but that would be another blog.
