As we completed a home staging consultation in the Cincinnati suburd of Hyde Park yesterday, I noticed some great steps that the homweonwetr had taken to begin to prepare their home for the real estate market.  I can't take credit for these ideas but I can share them.

We're busy staging homes in Cincinnati!   We love our work and love even more the opportunity to turn an unsold home into a quick success as showings multiply and offers follow.  However, upon arriving at this home we knew we had our work cut out for us.  The room is a great size that offers a lot of flexibility in terms of placing furniture and having a very comfortable room for a large family.  However, the focal point of this room was sadly lacking in WOW!  
Sometimes resoursefulness paired with really good creativity can make all the difference.

A Realtor client of Design To Market took the time to call me this afternoon and share a comment made to him by the buyer of a home he had listed.  The buyer pulled him aside at the closing to share that he felt the home had been staged very well.

You could ask..."what did you do to that kitchen?"  The answer would be no we didn't put in new cabinets, we didn't put in new counter-tops, we didn't even hang new artwork...The amazing answer is that we picked (with a stagers eye to colors that work) an engaging new wall color to make a kitchen Pop! For the price of a few gallons of paint and a homeowners hard work this somewhat dated kitchen has the interest and warmth to engage any buyer.

Take a look at the photos above.  The "glue" that holds all of these warm and enticing spaces together is the accent introduced when area rugs are added to the design mix.  In each photo as we set out to stage a vacant home we added area rugs as the final ingredient. 
Area rugs can perform magic for a room in many ways:

For those of you that read my June 20 entry entitled "Why Stage A Vacant?"  I can now answer the hypothetical question I had posed...The reason to stage a vacant is that a staged vacant sells and in this case
