Hot off the presses! 
The House and Senate have passed a bill that extends the closing date requirement for contracts eligible for the First time or Existing owners Tax Credit.  There will be no lapse in eligibility from yesterday June 30 - the previous final date - and whenever the President signs the bill into law. Under a proposal introduced in DC is an extension to the deadline to close on home purchase contracts
 that were executed (officially complete)by the April 30th timeline.  This measure seems to be gaining a
 good amount of traction and many think there is a good chance that it will pass.  The National Association
 of Realtors estimates that there could be as many as 180,000 buyers who will benefit from this

first time buyer tax credit program: Dallas area home prices up 3% - did you miss buying at the bottom? - 02/24/10 09:21 AM
Standard and Poor's/Case-Shiller's home price index was released yesterday, in it was data showing that the Dallas area home prces were up 3% over December sales last year.  In November prices were up 1.4% - resulting in the first 2 month stretch of gains in more than 2 years!  In fact Dallas was #2 behind San Francisco  (+4.8%) in December price gains - and beating out Washington D.C. where there was a 1% improvement. 
D'Ann Petersen - a business economist for the Federal Reserve of Dallas was quoted in the Dallas Morning News as saying:

OK, you've heard about the $8,000 first time buyer tax credit being available right?  Do you realize it expires December 1st?  Thats a long way off you say?  Well, you might want to take note of a few things right now because December 1st will be here in the blink of an eye and you don't want to be caught un prepared:

We've all seen them, we've all heard about how the city puts these Red Light cameras in 'just to make money', well in Frisco as of midnight tonight (May 26) Frisco will no longer monitor its 2 red light cameras.  It seems the contract with the monitoring company - Redflex Traffic Systems has run out, and Frisco is not going to be renewing it.  The state of Texas is currently considering outlawing red light cameras and Frisco wants to wait and see if that happens before they sign any new contract.  According to a news piece by NBC Channel 5 - … (5 comments)

Finally some good news for the housing industry! The economic stimulus bill passed and is awaiting President Obama's signature on Tuesday, February 17th.
First-time buyers can claim a credit worth $8,000 or 10% of the home's value, whichever is less on their 2008 or 2009 taxes.
The credit is refundable, meaning tax filers see a refund of the full $8,000 even if their total tax bill was less than that amount.
