   1. Vacant property is at an all time low: builder lots in sub-   divisions are 40-50-60% off prices from 2005.
   2. Less demand for building materials: lumber is down 36%    from 2005, sheetrock down 30% from 2009, and stucco down   15%.
   3. Building costs and excavating down: building costs are down   as much as $25 per square foot, excavation costs have fallen    20% as well.

When my stepfather decided to move my mother back to Michigan, it was time for us to locate a nursing home close to everyone and one that provided the best care for her.
Ferguson Convalescent Home was not our first choice. But now that she is a resident there, we are both extremely happy with the decision.

Birding Festival Kicks Off Annual Event, East Tawas Michigan - 05/12/10 03:58 PM
The Tawas Point Birding Festival is shaping up in its 5th year to be the largest yet.
The event recognizes Tawas Point and greater Iosco County as a rich bird watching area with organized field trips for enthusiasts and a seminar and lecture series.
Several types of Terns, a Michigan shorebird species, are this year's featured bird. The birds include the Caspian Tern, Black Tern and the Forster's Tern.

FISH Pantry Under New Management, Oxford Michigan - 05/10/10 04:21 PM
A changing of the guard concerning Oxford / Orion FISH is due to take place at the end of this month. Valarie Cass, who's been the nonprofit group's pantry coordinator for the last 6 years, is stepping down and handing the job over to Sandy Klersy and Kelly Fuller.
Although Cass plans to continue doing volunteer work for the group, she decided it was time to pass the torch when it came to managing and operating the food pantry in Thomas, a tiny unincorporated area of Oxford Twp, located north of the village and west of M-24.
