Alternatives To Chlorine In Your Lake Orion Swimming Pools - 06/28/11 08:06 AM
Chlorine keeps swimming pools safe and clean, but there are alternatives to chlorine if you're willing to pay the price. Chlorine is popular because it handles the 3 main jobs in keeping a swimming pool clean: It sanitizes, oxidizes and deters algae. The chemical is unpopular because it has a strong odor, reddens eyes and causes allergic reactions in some swimmers. There are alternatives to chlorine including bromine, ionizers and ozonators, though with each you'll still need to use some chlorine. A 4th alternative is PHMB, which doesn't require the use of any chlorine. All 4 have drawbacks, including cost. BrominePool (1 comments)

Outdoor Resort In Your Lapeer MI Backyard - 06/22/11 09:20 PM
This summer many will be spending more vacation time at home, in Lapeer, instead of traveling. According to the American Lighting Association (ALA), with a few updates to your outside lighting, you can enjoy a mini vacation at home. Believe it or not, it's easier - and less expensive - than you might imagine to transform your existing patio, deck or pool area into a retreat. Rather than buying a costly designer patio set or lounge chairs that will lose their luster by next season, invest in a new lighting scheme that will enhance your existing outdoor furniture and amenities. East Tawas, Activities Drew Visitors For Holiday Weekend - 06/08/11 08:07 AM
Tourism is often weather dependent and the Memorial Day holiday weekend brought a mixed bag of weather and visitors to the 19th annual Shoreline Arts and Crafts Show at the Tawas City Park Saturday and Sunday. Considering the weather, it was an average to better than average weekend, said the director of the Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce. Saturday was a drizzly, windy, cool day. Sunday began sunny, in the mid 70s, before turning cloudy in the afternoon and cooling to the mid 60s.references: john morris, iosco news, donsrealty.net (0 comments)
Rolling Debt Into Mortgage - 06/07/11 08:14 AM
The idea of rolling credit card debt into your mortgage when you buy a Metamora home. If your debt is too burdensome to qualify for a home loan, suggesting that the lender pay your debt off and extend you more money just doesn't fly on today's market like it once did. This is largely because most homes bought these days are just barely squeaking by to be appraised as having the same value as the purchase price. Virtually no lender is willing to extend cash and dump it into paying off your credit cards to be secured only by a home (0 comments)

Don't Believe Everything You Read About the Housing Market - 06/05/11 08:31 AM

Like Belinda, my business is up from last year and my brokers office is also up from last year. As she says, "don't believe everything you read". Via Belinda Spillman Colorado Real Estate Professional (Cornerstone Homes/Metro Brokers Marina Square): Since about April, I have been running crazy with real estate business. May was an extremely busy month. I think I had two days off in may where I actually didn't do real estate or talk to anyone about real (0 comments)
Tips To Avoid Neighbor Disputes - 06/02/11 07:23 AM
If you practice fence etiquette and bone up on local zoning, you can avoid neighbor disputes. Avoid fence disputes by practicing fence etiquette - a good neighbor policy. If you follow zoning regulations and share basics with neighbors before construction, you can install a new fence and stay on good terms with the folks next door. MUST DOS Observe boundaries: don't risk having to tear down that fence by going even 1 inch over your property line. Respect limits: fencing companies obtain permits and must know local zoning regulations for height, setbacks and other restrictions. Follow HOA rules: fencing companies are (3 comments)
