Gone Fishing - 09/29/10 03:57 AM
Last week I went on a short but very enjoyable trip to Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Late in the afternoon we walked out on the public fishing pier.

There was a little boy fishing using fresh cut bait. He made the mistake of laying his fish down on the pier and getting distracted.

You never know who is lurking over your shoulder.

He got his catch of the day!

In This Economy, There is One Place Where Your Dollar Goes Further Than Anywhere Else - 09/29/10 02:42 AM
Chris Ann Cleland a Realtor from Virginia wrote an excellent post about if you truly want to stretch a dollar buy a home.  This opportunity will not last at these prices.  When the market turns around the prices will go back up.

Via Chris Ann Cleland, GRI, SFR (Long & Foster, Gainesville, VA):
In this economy, it seems prices are constantly increasing, and what you get in return is shrinking.  Ice cream containers are slightly smaller, and marked up.  Same with cereal boxes.  Even bars of soap are slightly smaller and prices have increased.  Just about anything you can buy has been … (1 comments)

Pot is not..... Good for the sale of your home. - 09/29/10 02:27 AM
I wanted to share another excellent post by Valerie Zinger.  Buyers are turned off by heavy perfume smells when looking at a home.  I like her tip about using fruit and lemon.  Give it a try, I think you will also enjoy this light smell.  Clean is what sells a home.
Via Valerie Zinger (Royal Lepage Gale Real Estate):
Okay, none of that either but pot pourri.  Toss it out.  The perfume is always almost toxic.   Nothing says "sad and desperate" like a big bowl of dead leaves, acorns, pine cones and bark.  Replace the morbid with fresh fruit - lemons or green … (2 comments)

Don't flush away a sale - 09/29/10 02:12 AM
Valerie Zinger wrote a funny post illustrating a great point about taking a little time to update your bath when putting your home on the market.  She has some great tips that will make a huge difference.
Via Valerie Zinger (Royal Lepage Gale Real Estate):
Get rid of those fluffy toilet tank covers and any floor mats or carpeting.
There I have said it.
What?  If you, the Seller,  have them and your house is not on the market, okay enjoy.  But.....  They have two huge negative factors going for them:
1.  The Granny Factor - You know, Grandma had the tank cover, the toilet seat … (4 comments)

Life was good during the summer season of my business, and many other businesses were growing. Then the atmosphere changed and suddenly storm clouds gathered and blew in the most violent winds that tore businesses apart.  These storms blew with a vengeance, and their fury was devastating as they blew and took with them jobs along with the American dream of home ownership.

Pricing Your Property To Sell in Pell City, St Clair and Talladega County - 09/17/10 10:13 PM

Pricing Your Property To Sell in Pell City, St Clair and Talladega County

It is extremely important to think about a good pricing strategy when placing your Pell City, St Clair and Talladega County home on the market to sell.  Most of the time, sellers want to price their property with room for negotiation, this could lead to pricing themselves out of a sale. The two most powerful things to consider in pricing positioning are; what is currently available on the market and if the sellers are motivated.  In today's … (4 comments)

Frequent Mistakes Sellers Make When Preparing Their Homes For Sale - 09/13/10 09:35 PM
Frequent Mistakes Sellers Make When Preparing Their Homes For Sale
Are you thinking of putting your home on the market in Pell City, Talladega or St Clair County? In my experience as a Real Estate Professional, these are the most frequent mistakes a lot of sellers make when preparing their homes for sale.
1. No Curb Appeal ~Do not worry about what the house looks like because most buyers will drive by the home after finding it on the Internet, if you do not have curve appeal your property will be removed from their list without even looking at it.

I called my Internet carrier and was told that they had an outage that affected 35,000 homes and businesses. They were working on the problem, and it should be back up in three to four hours. Say What? Three to four hours, how was I going to get my work done? What am I going to do?
I will tell you what I did. I sent a thank you card to my buyers for allowing me the privilege in assisting them with the purchase … (9 comments)

Celebrating Labor Day Weekend On Logan Martin Lake - 09/02/10 06:50 PM

Celebrating Labor Day Weekend On Logan Martin Lake
Summer has flown by, and Labor Day has once again slipped up on us. Most of Pell City and the Logan Martin Lake area will be celebrating it as the last unofficial summer holiday on Logan Martin Lake. Before we crank up the boats and jet skis, let's reflect on the reason why we can spend a long weekend celebrating this day.

How To Rid of Cigarette Smoke In Your Home | Preparing Your Home For Sale - 09/02/10 06:07 PM
Lisa & Robert Hammerstin wrote an excelent post with some great tips on getting the smell of cigerette smoke out of your home.   It would  probably work well on removing other odors as well.

An insightful article on Ridding Your Home of Tobacco smells. Some very handy tips to pass along.  Being an ex-smoker myself I can relate... Now I will notice the smell of smoke in every home I go into and am very aware of it upon entering a home if a smoker lives or has lived there in the past. … (3 comments)

Friends, Some Bonds Can Never Be Broken - 09/01/10 06:39 PM

On our path of life, we have friends that walk our way.
You think that bond is here to stay.
Then their path leads them the other way.
They leave us without much to say.
Time passes, and you drift apart.
When you think about it, sadness will fill your heart.
My friend did something for me most people would ever do.
It came right out of the blue.
To think of it, is so wonderful and sweet
Tears are now rolling down my cheek.
The bond of this friendship, was never torn apart.
It was a true bond from the very start.
