lake norman nc: Lake Norman's December 2009 Wallpaper Calendar is Here! - 12/01/09 11:41 AM
December is upon us here in Lake Norman and with it comes crisp clear "Carolina Blue" skies, cool temperatures (It got down to 38 degrees this morning but warmed up to 62 degrees this afternoon) and the return of "seasonal waterviews". With the trees now bare those of us whose Lake Norman homes have "seasonal waterviews" have seen our views transformed from thick and beautiful trees to expansive views of Lake Norman! For this month's calendar I chose this photo of our North Carolina bird the Cardinal because of its naturally beautiful red feathers. Perfect for this holiday season! To make your desktop

lake norman nc: Speechless Sunday in Lake Norman NC - 11/22/09 07:30 AM
I don't know exactly what drew me out the other morning as sunrise but once I got out on the dock I saw the most breathaking beauty. The water was like glass and the layer of fog hugging the water added a mystical feel to an already beautiful morning. You can also see one long red leaf still handing on a gum tree. I took this with a simple point and shoot camera!

lake norman nc: A Lake Norman Sunrise - 11/21/09 08:06 AM
The weather has been perfect ever since the heavy rain and winds left our Lake Norman area late last week. This morning I looked out to see a beautiful sunrise so I decided to grab my camera and try to capture it for my blog readers. Like many Lake Norman sunrises, the water was absolutely still creating a visual mirror image of everything in view. There was a mystical layer of fog hovering just above the surface. It was hard to believe that some miles away it was a typical Monday morning with the I-77 filling up with commuters. This is why so many of us

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Halloween Happenings 2009 - 10/19/09 03:03 PM
Every year at this time the Lake Norman area comes alive with pumpkin patches, Halloween festivities for all ages and homes decorated to welcome all of our young trick -or -treaters. If you are in search of a pumpkin patch or Halloween festivities in and around our Mooresville and Lake Norman area, here are a few ideas: Carrigan Farms: Open 9-5 weekdays, 9-4 Saturday and 12-4 Sundays through Halloween. Pick a pumpkin, visit the animals and have some fresh apple cider. There are even hayrides every 15 minutes and special old-fashioned night time hay rides too! 1261 Oak Ridge Farm Highway/N.C.150, Mooresville. Patterson

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Real Estate's October 2009 Calendar is here! - 10/04/09 09:50 AM
October is truly one of my favorite months on Lake Norman. The skies are crisp and clear, the temperatures mild (today's high is 75) and the Lake Norman shoreline becomes ablaze with color. Our trees are just beginning to change but over the next four weeks the Dogwoods will turn a deep red, then the Maples and other trees follow, each with their own spectacular series of colors. To make this your desktop calendar, go to: Lake Norman Real Estate, click on the round button at the top of this site's home page entitled: "Lake Norman Calendar"and up will come an image

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Real Estate Market Overview September 2009 - 09/27/09 08:41 AM
The future of our Lake Norman Real Estate market may depend as much on government and financial regulations and the progress of the US economy as it does on our local economy. Nationally, the housing market has been greatly impacted by new regulations that have made the ability to get home loans much more difficult. Since we rely so much on relocation buyers, Lake Norman's housing market gets hit twice, once with the difficulty of folks wanting to relocate here having problems selling their homes and once because our potential Lake Norman home buyers are having a hard time

lake norman nc: Lake Norman's 4th Annual "Wiener" Race is this Saturday! - 09/24/09 10:24 AM
Meet The Red Baron. He is one of the "Wiener"Run competitors in Mooresville this Saturday, September 27, 2009. His training program is so stealth like that you might think he is sleeping but it is truly a cunning act to make the other Dachshunds think he is out of shape. Like most folks, I always underestimated these small yet energetic dogs until I attended the annual Dachshund race in Mooresville. It was truly amazing! There were Dachshunds of all colors, sizes, and ages everywhere. It turns out the races are quite serious, depending on the "age bracket". The puppies tend

lake norman nc: Lake Norman's Business of the Week: lavendar BOUTIQUE - 09/23/09 09:45 AM
lavendar BOUTIQUE Walking into Mooresville's lavendar BOUTIQUE you might just think you were suddenly transplanted to a shop on Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills or New York City except for one big difference: you will instantly feel welcome by the warm and friendly "shop girls" . Designer fashion with Southern hospitality, what could be better? There is no doubt that Lake Norman has a casual, lake lifestyle. That is why lavendar BOUTIQUE's emphasis on designer denim is both smart and successful. Transplants like myself (from California) who have adopted Lake Norman's wonderfully casual ways still want our favorite brand of jeans and we don't

lake norman nc: Speechless Sunday in Lake Norman - 09/13/09 04:46 PM
The other day I had a client call and ask me to run over and take some photos of the "water" in front of a listing they had seen on the MLS. It was late afternoon and the water was like glass. Many times when one thinks of Lake Norman they think of the wide open water of the main channel but, in fact, this photo is more typical of the lake. While Lake Norman has 520 miles of shoreline, there are myriad coves and inlets like this one.

lake norman nc: The Lake Norman September 2009 Calendar is here! - 09/01/09 02:53 PM
September is here and it already feels like fall on Lake Norman. The humidity of the lazy days of summer has been replaced by invigoratingly fresh air and cooler temperatures. Some of my favorite events in Mooresville and the greater Lake Norman area occur in September; from the Denver Days Fall Festival to the Amazing Maize Maze to the just too fun Wiener Races. (Yes, I mean Dachshunds!). However, for this month's photo I decide to peak ahead to October and the 36th annual Carolina Balloon Fest on October 23-25. Many don't know that Statesville (and Lake

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Real Estate: The Utimate Car Week! - 08/29/09 11:46 AM
Anyone who has lived in Mooresville (Race City USA) knows that cars are a big part of life for many folks here. From NASCAR to the local drag strip to our monthly Cruise-ins and weekly gatherings of car collectors of all kinds, if you are a car fan, this is THE place to be...well with the exception of Monterey California during "Car Week"! One of my client's, Brett Hemphill, thought it might be fun to share a bit about this incredible week for those that may not have been lucky enough to attend it. All I can say is WOW

lake norman nc: Wordless Wednesday: Lake Norman NC - 08/26/09 09:20 AM
I couldn't resist sharing this photo of one of my favoirte homes on Lake Norman which I took this summer after viewing some waterfront homes for one of my buyers. It's not often that you find a log cabin ESTATE complete with its own vineyard. This property is located along the Western shoreline of Lake Norman in Sherrills Ford just off of Molly's Backbone on Azalea Road. No, I did not make up the street names!

lake norman nc: 60 Things about life in Lake Norman that you won't find in the tour guides! Part 3 - 08/23/09 09:27 AM
If you missed Part 1 and 2 of this series, then you don't know how to pronounce Appalachian properly, or that you shouldn't be surprised to have complete strangers wave at you as you drive by most any Lake Norman neighborhood or why you need to merge quickly onto our Interstates. Here is Part 3: Boatslips are scarce on Lake Norman, so try to get one with your house! This is one thing I wish my Realtor has told us when we purchase our home here on Lake Norman. Duke Energy oversees the lake and they are making boatslip and dock

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Real Estate's Business of the Week: Josh's Farmers Market! - 07/21/09 10:35 AM
Josh's Farmers Market in Mooresville Lake Norman If you have reason to be on Williamson Road in Mooresville on Thursday - Sunday you might have seen a crowded parking lot nestled in some trees on the east side of the street just south of Highway 150. This is where Josh Graham and his wife Alicia own and operate their popular Josh's Farmers Market which sells seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers and from Columbia S.C. It's truly like an entire farmers market all under one large tent. The day I took these photos I

lake norman nc: Lake Norman North Carolina: Growth and Development Update - 06/12/09 08:29 AM
It has been a while since I have written any news related to our greater Lake Norman developments because, quite frankly, most of the exciting projects I have written about have been stalled for the past year due to the national economic downturn. However, some large and small developments are moving forward. Here is an update on these: Four Points Sheraton: Construction is expected to begin very soon at Exit 28. The Four Points Sheraton is expected to have about 2,200 square feet of meeting space. Langtree at the Lake: While delayed for about a year, Langtree at the Lake

lake norman nc: Lake Norman Real Estate's June Calendar is here! - 06/01/09 01:06 PM
One day last summer while taking some clients out on Lake Norman we happened by this wonderful rock formation. Obviously, I was not the first person to see the image of a creature as someone had carefully painted in the eye. It looks to me like it is having a fresh green bush for lunch! I thought it would be fun to choose this for my June Lake Norman calendar instead of highlighting one of the many sports or fun activities that are in full force by June. To make this your desktop calendar, go to my Lake Norman

lake norman nc: THE Place to go for all things Lake Norman! - 03/21/09 07:24 AM
One day when I was surfing the web about Lake Norman and Lake Norman real estate I happened upon this great website that sold fun and unusual Lake Norman stuff: LKN Merchandise.com. Since I am always looking for new and different types of locally owned and operated businesses to highlight each week I decided to email the company and find out more about it. It turns out LKNmerchandise.com is the brainchild of a local firm: Artisan Signs and Graphics located on Old Statesville Road in Cornelius. Owner Scott Crosbie was kind enough to meet with me and explain more

lake norman nc: Mooresville/Lake Norman NC...We have a lot of good news! - 03/13/09 11:46 AM
At my Exchange Club luncheon today our guest speaker was Karen Shore the Executive Director for the Mooresville Chamber of Commerce. I have known about some of what she shared with us but she confirmed that yes, there is some truly good economic news to share about the greater Mooresville/Lake Norman communities! Mooresville-Statesville was just chosen as the #1 Micropolitan in the entire US for 2008 by Site Selection Magazine's March 2009 edition! "In 2008, companies made 17 announcements to either expand or build a new facility in the Statesville-Mooresville Micropolitan Area, according to the Conway Data New Plant

lake norman nc: Midas Spring Water: Lake Norman's Best-Kept Secret - 03/08/09 08:51 AM
Step aside Evian, Perrier, SanPelligrinio and Fiuggi! Did you know that right here in our own town of Huntersville, located down a long country road off of Beatties Ford, is the Midas Spring, a "natural resource comparable to the best springs in Europe, which are prized for their health-giving benefits"? We all know that water is good for us but how often do we just grab whatever bottled water is on sale not knowing that all waters are not the same? "Each mineral water has a particular content, created by the minerals it leaches from the surrounding

lake norman nc: A winter day on Lake Norman NC - 01/25/09 10:19 AM
I played tourist yesterday as my Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club hosted the North Carolina District Conference. As part of our program for our visitors we took them out on The Catawba Queen for a lunch tour of Lake Norman. We had expected rain but it turned out to be a beautiful day! I spent the entire time running around taking pictures as the skies and clouds changed. It was a reminder as to why I love living here!
