December is upon us here in Lake Norman and with it comes crisp clear "Carolina Blue" skies, cool temperatures (It got down to 38 degrees this morning but warmed up to 62 degrees this afternoon) and the return of "seasonal waterviews". With the trees now bare those of us whose Lake Norman homes have "seasonal waterviews" have seen our views transformed from thick and beautiful trees to expansive views of Lake Norman!
For this month's calendar I chose this photo of our North Carolina bird the Cardinal because of its naturally beautiful red feathers. Perfect for this holiday season!

I don't know exactly what drew me out the other morning as sunrise but once I got out on the dock I saw the most breathaking beauty. The water was like glass and the layer of fog hugging the water added a mystical feel to an already beautiful morning. You can also see one long red leaf still handing on a gum tree. I took this with a simple point and shoot camera!

The weather has been perfect ever since the heavy rain and winds left our Lake Norman area late last week. This morning I looked out to see a beautiful sunrise so I decided to grab my camera and try to capture it for my blog readers.
Like many Lake Norman sunrises, the water was absolutely still creating a visual mirror image of everything in view. There was a mystical layer of fog hovering just above the surface. Every year at this time the Lake Norman area comes alive with pumpkin patches, Halloween festivities for all ages and homes decorated to welcome all of our young trick -or -treaters.

October is truly one of my favorite months on Lake Norman. The skies are crisp and clear, the temperatures mild (today's high is 75) and the Lake Norman shoreline becomes ablaze with color. Our trees are just beginning to change but over the next four weeks the Dogwoods will turn a deep red, then the Maples and other trees follow, each with their own spectacular series of colors.

Meet The Red Baron. He is one of the "Wiener"Run competitors in Mooresville this Saturday, September 27, 2009. His training program is so stealth like that you might think he is sleeping but it is truly a cunning act to make the other Dachshunds think he is out of shape.
Like most folks, I always underestimated these small yet energetic dogs until I attended the annual Dachshund race in Mooresville. It was truly amazing! There were Dachshunds of all colors, sizes, and ages everywhere.

The other day I had a client call and ask me to run over and take some photos of the "water" in front of a listing they had seen on the MLS. It was late afternoon and the water was like glass. Many times when one thinks of Lake Norman they think of the wide open water of the main channel but, in fact, this photo is more typical of the lake. While Lake Norman has 520 miles of shoreline, there are myriad coves and inlets like this one.

September is here and it already feels like fall on Lake Norman. The humidity of the lazy days of summer has been replaced by invigoratingly fresh air and cooler temperatures.
Some of my favorite events in Mooresville and the greater Lake Norman area occur in September; from the Denver Days Fall Festival to the Amazing Maize Maze to the just too fun Wiener Races. (Yes, I mean Dachshunds!).

It has been a while since I have written any news related to our greater Lake Norman developments because, quite frankly, most of the exciting projects I have written about have been stalled for the past year due to the national economic downturn.

One day last summer while taking some clients out on Lake Norman we happened by this wonderful rock formation. Obviously, I was not the first person to see the image of a creature as someone had carefully painted in the eye. It looks to me like it is having a fresh green bush for lunch!

One day when I was surfing the web about Lake Norman and Lake Norman real estate I happened upon this great website that sold fun and unusual Lake Norman stuff: LKN Merchandise.com. Since I am always looking for new and different types of locally owned and operated businesses to highlight each week I decided to email the company and find out more about it.

I played tourist yesterday as my Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club hosted the North Carolina District Conference. As part of our program for our visitors we took them out on The Catawba Queen for a lunch tour of Lake Norman. We had expected rain but it turned out to be a beautiful day! I spent the entire time running around taking pictures as the skies and clouds changed.
It was a reminder as to why I love living here!
