diane casale: What A Great Time To Be A Fourth-Grader In Alabama - 01/31/12 08:50 PM
Being a Mom of a fourth-grader, the news I read today makes me one VERY proud and excited Parent! It was announced today that Fourth-grade students across Alabama are going to be given a chance to be an integral part of space exploration. The Rocket City Space Pioneers announced a contest that will allow fourth-graders to name its moon lander. The students from the Huntsville Center for Technology, who are members of the Rocket City Space Pioneers team, built a full-scale model of a moon lander, which they unveiled on Tuesday. "Every spacecraft needs a name," said Tim Pickens, chief (1 comments)
diane casale: My Spring Renewal..... - 03/18/11 12:53 AM
Wow, it has been some time since I have actually written a blog entry. My life has been wonderfully busy...with that my Spring Renewal Blog.
It started with my blogging here on ActiveRain. I met the most brilliant person, Elizabeth Cooper-Golden of @ Homes Realty Group here in Huntsville. She was pursuing me for some time and really needed agents that she could trust. Me. I was beyond words and was very flattered. But, I was set in my old ways, in my old company, doing my same old things with hopes that my business would pick up.

The Farley Elementary School District has so many exciting developments in the works from the new Fire Station No. 7 opening up just a walk away to all the new subdivisions either selling or just starting to break ground (Farley Farms). This is the place to look first and live! Autumn Ridge, Quail Ridge, Fleer Estates and Sandhurst are all established subdivisions. They have homes from 1000 sq.ft. up to 2600 sq.ft. Sandhurst is the original development, then Autumn Ridge/Quail Ridge (0 comments)

Via Travis Newton OREGON FHA & USDA EXPERT (Preferred Mortgage): Good Friday! There are some (big) changes to the FHA program beginning on September 7th, 2010. FHA is lowering their Up Front Mortgage Insurance (Financed on top of the loan) from 2.25% down to 1%. Yes, this sounds great doesn't it? Not so much, they are raising the monthly mortgage insurance from .55% to .90%. It may not sound like much, so let's take a look at the example below:
How does this affect our clients? $200,000 Purchase price (0 comments)
Via Melissa Juarez (Massachusetts Buyers Broker Agency, LLC): Wow! A plunge in mortgage rates is giving homeowners a rare opportunity to lock in a 15-year, fixed-rate loan for less than 4 percent. Rates haven't dipped this low in decades. For those who can qualify, it's the chance to pay off a home in half the time while saving tens of thousands of dollars - if not more. The average rate on the 15-year fixed loan dropped to 3.95 (0 comments)
diane casale: Another article about Huntsville, Alabama - 08/03/10 11:37 AM
Another great article about Huntsville, Alabama in Government Executive magazine's August issue. It features a cover story on Huntsville entitled, "The New Federal City: Huntsville, Ala., is becoming the center of gravity for key agencies." The magazine, gives an account of Huntsville's and Redstone Arsenal's growth and includes interviews with several families who have relocated here as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission's shift of nearly 5,000 federal jobs from the Washington area. Ethan Hadley, the vice president of economic development with the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, calls the 2005 BRAC the "largest economic development announcement in Alabama (1 comments)
diane casale: The New FICO 8 Score - 07/27/10 07:54 PM
I have been trying to keep updated with credit scoring and financing because it has a direct effect on the real estate market and, therefore, me. I found this great article by Leslie McFadden, Bankrate.com, written today about the new FICO 8 score...A VERY interesting read. Enjoy and share it with everyone you know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FICO announced today that more than 2,700 lenders are using its latest and greatest consumer credit scoring model known as the "FICO 8 Score." According to FICO's own research, its newest credit score improves credit risk prediction by as much as 15 percent over earlier generations. The score debuted in (0 comments)
diane casale: Huntsville, AL to start a Drivr txt ban - 07/25/10 04:58 PM
This past week the Huntsville City Council unanimously passed a texting while driving ban which will go into effect September 20th. This is the 5th Alabama city to pass this type of law, and will not be the last. The ordinance bans the use of sending or receiving a text message, viewing pictures or email while driving, or even punch in coordinates on your satellite navigation system while in Huntsville. However, a driver can not be pulled over just for the texting violation. An officer would have to see them breaking another law first such as traveling too close, weaving or speeding.
diane casale: Buyer's Remorse~It is VERY real - 07/23/10 05:58 PM
Buyer's Remorse~I learned about it when getting my R.E. license (even though it was only touched on lightly), my Broker warned me about it and finally, I had clients who had it...several of them. I warn my Buyers in advance because I can feelit coming. Typically, for me at least, these are the Buyers who you take out to look at so many properties it makes your head spin. When you think you found them the perfect home ~ BAM, they change mind on what they want. Then, when they do like a home, which you KNOW isn't what they want and they are (3 comments)
diane casale: One of my biggest fears...overcome - 07/22/10 11:31 AM
So, here I was knowing that I had a commercial shoot in the morning. I was sicker than a dog (took NyQuil in hopes that my nose would recover from a day of sneezing). Where was I? Right here on ActiveRain. I needed the comfort of other agents who may have experienced what I was experiencing...sheer TERROR. Let me explain. I am not one who likes to be in front of a large group of people and have the spotlight on me-never have and hopefully I will like it one day-but not now. lol. I have nightmares about this stuff! Really!!
Via Money Magazine: Median home price: $140,000 Median family income (per year): $68,755 When cotton was still king in post-war Alabama, Huntsville was a sleepy Southern city of 16,000 souls. After NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center began construction in 1950s, Huntsville's growth, well, skyrocketed. It has more than 170,000 residents today. All those well-paid engineers, scientists and technicians mean Huntsville has a well-heeled demographic. That has not swelled home prices (0 comments)
