debbie reed team: Local Lavendar Farm - 06/29/09 03:28 PM
I spent a lovely day lately with my P.E.O. sisters at the Lavendar Farm, outside of Georgetown, DE.  I had heard of the farm before, but never knew what an enchanting place it is.  We received a lavendar lecture while sitting under the luxurious trees.  It seems lavendar can be used for so many things--from repelling insects to making tasty honey.  There is a barn where lavendar is dried, a country store where lavendar is sold in its many manifestations, and incredible gardens.  It is definately worth the trip, and an enchanting addition to a beach vacation.  For more info, click … (1 comments)

The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Buddy Walk is an important local philanthropy initiated and led by Dennis and Sharon Lee Diehl of Just Comfort Shoes on Rehoboth Ave.  The Boardwalk Buddy Walk itself is held the second Saturday of October, with tons of fun and profitable related activities to make it one fabulous fund-raising weekend!  Extra projects are held throughout the year in support of down syndrome research, services and education, including the new Dining Out nights sponsored by various area restaurants.  Dos Locos and Fins have generously participated already this Spring.  The next opportunity to donate by simply eating at a … (0 comments)

debbie reed team: Welcome, Baby Madelyn! - 05/11/09 08:25 PM
Hey, Quilting Buddies!
Remember that baby quilt I was mentioning a few weeks ago--the one that I gave in pieces to the mother-to-be at her shower?  Believe it or not, I actually finished and delivered it before Baby Madelyn was born!  And get this...she arrived on Mother's Day!!
Welcome, and God Bless Madelyn and her proud parents.
This quilt was machine pieced and quilted.  The front is fashioned in the high contrast black and white that newborns respond to best.  The back is a fun jungle print to blend with the jungle motif of her nursery.

debbie reed team: A REALTOR's Day Off - 04/29/09 04:12 PM

Last Thursday, April 23, I skipped town and took a Road Trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. with my friend, Beth. What a glorious day!  The tulips were beyond description, and the display in the Observatory was gorgeous as well.
One of the great things about living in Rehoboth Beach is that it's a convenient day trip to so many interesting places--
Washington, D.C. - 2.5 Hours Baltimore - 1.5 Hour Annapolis - 1.5 Hour Wilmington - 1.5 Hour Philadelphia - 2 Hours Newark - 1.5 Hours Longwood - 2-2.5 Hours Now I just need to figure out where to … (6 comments)

debbie reed team: Buyer Beware of Short Sales - 04/14/09 12:30 PM

You've heard it over and over again...NOW is a great time to buy...just about anything!  Cars, furniture, and of course, real estate.  Many folks feel the best real estate deals today can be found in short sales and foreclosures.  Although this is true sometimes, one should not assume that all short sales, foreclosures and REOs are great bargains.  Here's why:
A short sale is created when the seller owes more money to the bank than he or she can recover from selling the property.  This can be the case for many reasons.  Perhaps the seller took out a home equity … (0 comments)

debbie reed team: Quilting Update - 04/08/09 02:04 PM
As last reported, I was trying to complete a baby quilt in one week--not an impossible task except I work regular office hours on a team rather than coming and going as an independent agent has the luxury of doing, plus there were numerous evening commitments spread throughout the week.  Then on Thursday, my day off that I had dedicated to quilting, I ended up showing mobile homes all morning and cleaning the house for unexpected company most of the afternoon.  When I left my office Friday at 5:00, I told my teammates, "Well, I have to go home and sew.  … (1 comments)

debbie reed team: My Own Worst Enemy (Sometimes--like now) - 03/29/09 12:05 AM
Tell me...where did the time go?  A friend from my office is having a baby in May.  I've known this for almost 9 months.  Upon hearing the good news, of course I decided to make her a baby quilt.  I even knew what pattern I wanted to make.  Time went by.  I was invited to her shower 3-4 weeks ago.  Still planning to make the quilt--a black and white pinwheel pattern called "Tiddlywinks" in the "P.S. I Love You 2" book.  Well, the shower is exactly 1 week from today, and I started the quilt this evening.  One week!  Why do I put … (1 comments)

debbie reed team: Oh, What a Beautiful Morning! - 03/23/09 02:26 PM

It was bright and sunny when I stepped out the door with Merlin at 7:30am--a beautiful morning!  But looks can be deceiving, as was immediately apparant when the blast of chilly air hit my face.  Still, tolerating a low temperature is much easier when the views on the walk are as lovely as these (Silver Lake in South Rehoboth Beach).
Looking forward to many more sunny and even warmer days ahead!

Believe it or not, this is a color picture!  What a gray, gray morning we awoke to here in Rehoboth today.  Even so, the sights were still beautiful, if also a bit eerie.
p.s.  Silver Lake is one of the two largest, natural fresh water lakes in Delaware.  It is in South Rehoboth and only a few steps to the Atlantic Ocean.  This beautiful blue heron lives at Silver Lake with many ducks, Canada geese, turtles, fish and other critters.

debbie reed team: Slower-Paced but Not Standing Still - 01/10/09 10:24 PM
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, used to be a summer resort only.  The shops opened and the people came to town Memorial Day weekend.  Everything closed up and the people left on Labor Day.  The months in between were as devoid of activity as was the stretch of empty highway between Lewes and Rehoboth, before the outlet malls, restaurants and chain motels filled in where farmer's fields used to be.
Since that day (and this was true as recently as 20 years ago), the merchants and managers of Lewes and Rehoboth have worked hard to make their communities more of a year-round resort, … (2 comments)
