edisto state park: South Carolina DOT to extend Edisto Beach Bike Paths to Botany Bay Plantation - 11/04/11 09:32 AM
South Carolina Department of Transportation has received $635,500 in funding to extend the Edisto Beach Bike Path. The first phase will go to Botany Bay Road. The bike path currently ends at the corner of HWY 174 and Palmetto Road. The funding was secured largely because of the Edisto Island National Scenic Byway (HWY174). The four-foot wide lanes, located on both sides of the road will accommodate both bike and pedestrian usage allowing byway travelers to travel safely from the beach to the Botany Bay Plantation Wildlife Management Area. This will give residents and visitors access to over 5500

edisto state park: Edisto Island Community Spotlight: The Neck - 12/03/09 10:59 AM
Edisto Island Community Spotlight: The NeckThe Neck was Edisto Island's first planned neighborhood. The Neck is a very large plantation offering a wide variety of properties: Deep Water, Tidal Creek, Marsh Front, Acreage, and Interior. Homes and vacant land are readily available. I like the close proximity to the Beach and Live Oak Landing State Park. The state park is apx. 900 acres including the ACE Basin Interpretive Center, Cabins, Camp Sites, Boat Ramp, Docks, and Trails for walkers and bikers. The Neck is only 2 miles from the beach. Most properties are heavily wooded with Live Oaks and Palmettos. Lot sizes can range from .5 acre
