Sellers...It's the Weather I Tell You!
Alas, now, I can back up my statements and explanations for slow appointments in the last couple of weeks to my sellers! It's the weather!
According to the chief economist for the National Association of Realtors, in an article titled, " Pending Sales Down; Severe Weather Impacting Market", pending home sales have decreased with additional declines expected from the recent poor weather conditions. NAR derives information from "The Pending Home Sales Index", which bases the numbers from contracts signed in January, which fell 7.6 percent to 90.4 from an upwardly revised 97.8 in December, but … (2 comments)

Just In Case You Haven't Heard Enough About Health Care Reform... - 03/19/10 04:48 PM
Just In Case You Haven't Heard Enough About Health Care Reform...
I thought this was interesting...a letter from a doctor to his Senator (not Texas).

An Indianapolis doctor's letter to Sen. Bayh about  the Bill (Note:   Dr. Stephen E. Fraser, MD practices as an  anesthesiologist in Indianapolis, IN  )   Here is a  letter I sent to Senator Bayh.. Feel free to  copy it and send it around to all other  representatives. -- Stephen  Fraser  Senator  Bayh, As a practicing  physician I have major concerns with the health  care bill before Congress. I actually have read  the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the  government's proposed … (1 comments)

Warning...Not All Brokers Are Con Artists! - 03/19/10 10:42 AM
Warning...Not All Brokers are Con Artists! Take a look at this youtube video if you haven't come across it already. Obviously, this video is from a point of view of someone who doesn't trust real estate brokers and I don't doubt there are brokers that pull some of these stunts, bit I believe, for the most part, brokers aren't this dishonest and unethical, however it is a litttle frightening that there is such skeptism about our profession.

I find it especially humorous about the "Don't let your broker force you into an open house so that the broker gets tons … (2 comments)

This is Not Your Normal Tea Party!!!! - 03/12/10 06:06 PM
For those who are confused about the Tea Party....as I was, but am beginning to understand the idealogy...and happen to agree with it!!!!
Dear Fellow Neighborhood Tea Partiers,
We thought the following might be a helpful resource as you talk to family, friends, work assosicates and neighbors regarding the issues likely to arise during the upcoming 2010 elections; local, state and national.
If you are like us, you know what you stand for but often have difficulty finding the words to express those thoughts.

You may not agree with each of the items below.  That's OK. The idea is to share some thoughts on political "hot … (4 comments)

The Global Ticking Time Bomb: Government Debt - 03/11/10 11:59 AM
We, the people, have to talk to our representatives about wasteful spending!
Via Spencer Rascoff (Zillow):
This paper scared me very badly, so as a form of therapy I figured I’d share it with you. Misery loves company, after all.
Governments around the world are already drowning in debt, and many countries face a high certainty of debt levels that will exceed their GDP (100 in the graphs below means that GDP = the debt amount). Think about that for a second, and imagine it for your own household. GDP is the amount of all goods and services produced in the total economy … (1 comments)

Confessions from a 'Directionally Challenged' Realtor in Denton County Texas - 03/11/10 11:44 AM
Confessions from a 'Directionally Challenged' Realtor in Denton County Texas
I have to confess, I am a directionally challenged realtor. I'm not sure If this is a genetric trait, an age issue, or just that I have a lack of concentration when driving. Yes, sounds frightening.
I found my situation quite embarrassing last summer in Denton County Texas, at the height of the buyer season (well, okay, it was the height of the season for 2009) when I had several clients that liked to caravan through the houses we were viewing, in other words, they wanted to follow me. After getting … (2 comments)

Are You Fired Up with Enthusiams or Will You be Fired With Enthusiasm?? - 03/03/10 01:40 PM
The quote by Vince Lombardi "If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm" really makes me think about how this relates to my real estate life and just life in general. Whether it's a life philosophy or not, the quote rings true. Having a corporate background, I recall several employees...people that had the ability to be great at their job, but had little enthusiasm for their work and those who's ability to be great was lacking, but their attitudes toward their jobs were of enthusiasm and determination to learn to be great.
As a manager, I had … (32 comments)

Polar Bears & Dogs vs Banks & Distressed Homeowners - 03/01/10 12:46 PM
Polar Bears & Dogs vs Banks & Distressed Homeowners -- in honor of National Polar Bear Day (yesterday) After reading a blog article about ten distressed homeowners who have sued Bank of America for failing to keep their promise in loan modifications, I just wonder why banks, who are getting beat up by the media, aren't doing something to change the public view of their behavior.
Apparently ten distressed homeowners filed the civil suit in Ohio last week because Bank of America associates led them to believe that the homeowners' payments would be modified, after a very long process of approval … (0 comments)
