Foreclosures Help Renters become Buyers When I meet first time home-buyer clients for the first time, I always congratulate them for coming over from the dark side (renting) into the light (buying). No more paying someone else’s mortgage. Not to mention the tax benefits of home ownership – it truly is a wonderful thing, even if I am biased. Recently, I met a young couple who were looking for their first home. They currently pay $1800/mo in rent and were looking to pay no more than that, in total, for a house. Sound reasonable? Spreading the Good Real Estate News! It is rare that I hear good news about the real estate industry. The media focuses almost exclusively on bad news. And there are plenty of negative stories to report, if that’s what you are looking for. But there is also more than enough good news to go around. As a Washington, DC-based realtor I am fortunate, indeed. I live in one of the strongest real estate markets in the country. But I am sure that good things are happening in other places as well. Dealing with “Last Minute” Clients I used to be one of those people who procrastinated, and then in a frenzy of stress and activity got whatever needed to be done, accomplished. This was an insane way to live. Talk about being stressed out – I was miserable. And to think, this was something that I inflicted upon myself on a regular basis. Thank goodness, I finally realized the error of my ways and changed my motis operandi. I’m far from perfect, but I am much happier planning in advance and watching as things fall nicely into place.
