If there is one thing that I must have in my business, it would probably have to be my smartphone. For me, it is imperative to be able to be available for clients when I am "on the go." The smartphone allows you to call, get email, and access the internet and view properties as needed. I remember back in the day when agents had to carry thick MLS books around with them, which not only killed alot of trees, but were outdated by the time they were printed.
My, how the times have changed. Everyone wants information in an instant. Clients do, agents do, everyone does!
Smartphones give you the freedom to be productive and go about your business without being handcuffed to a landline phone sitting on your desk. Not to mention all the cool, useful and not so useful apps that you can download to make yourself even more productive. No more snail mail, reading newspapers and more. Wow, look how many trees we are saving now! get up to the minute news, weather and sports at a touch of a button. It is hard to believe that we ever existed without these little gadgets before, isn't it?

The smartphone has become the norm for most individuals and has many great benefits to our productivity. There is one downside that I do see with them and that is that some seem to get "addicted" to them and would rather scroll and surf the internet than interact socially with others. I see it far too often, Dad's at a daughters school function, staring at the screen instead of paying attention, Mom's reading email, kids texting. As with everything, moderation is the key.
Anyway, in a nutshell, the smartphone is the indispensible tool that I value the most. If I were on a deserted island, I would probably choose a pizza maker, but if not that, then possibly a smartphone.
