I am not sure this is a Northern hawk Owl…but I was told by a person who knows a lot more about Owls than I do that he thought it was a Northen Hawk Owl.
I was sitting at my desk and looked up to see this guy perched in the top of the tree outside my window… I grabbed the camera and took his picture… I was waiting patiently to see what he would do… looked down just for a second and whoosh he was gone…

The winning fish was a 30 pound Winter King... and a local fisherman Mike Walls was the big winner!
He won $18,018 for the Fish and his Boat the" Dynamike" took in $19,687.50 in Boat Side Bet winnings...
He was also awarded the John Hillstrand Memorial Trophy

I haven't really been keeping up on the blog... the Winter Solstice meet lunar Eclipse... must have dumbfounded me... I just went silent....
Wish I could say it was for a good reason... but as I remember it was a series of things like the pump on the well going out Christmas eve...
No water so we delayed Christmas to New years...
Then work related events that kept me busy doing this and that and so the blog just stopped....
I thought about it a couple of times.... But just couldn't get back on board...

So the Lunar Eclipse is estimated to be seen in Alaska starting at 10:41 PM Monday night...
the best time should be around 11:17 PM according to the weather people...
It will be about 2:41 AM Eastern time... so you folks have to stay up late to see it!
If you don't see it tomorrow it won't happen again till 2094...

This has been a year of Moon events .... Monday night, Tuesday morning December 21st will be another event....
First Winter Solstice to Meet Lunar Eclipse in 456 years!
This is the second of 2 eclipses in 2010... the other was a partial eclipse June 26, 2010.
Some say the winter solstice is a time of renewal. Up here is Alaska we look forward to gaining daylight...
So in essence it is a time when the light comes back and renews our spirit!
Hopefully you will get out and enjoy the event no one has seen in 456 years....

The other night I was getting some water at the sink... it was a clear night and the stars were shining...
I thought I saw a man by my husbands truck... but wasn't sure...
We live out a little ways and have a very long driveway so people don't accidentally walk up to our home..
I went to switch the out door light on and look out but saw nothing...
The next day we found something in our yard that may explain who I saw.....
