This was the full moon at 8:57 Am .... January 30....
It was just so pretty and I watched it dip behind Mt Illimani (another Volcano)
It almost disappears by 9:03 AM
Then just the dusk and the Snow
Until the sunrise officially takes over...
I have lived her 20 years and have never got used to watching the sun and the moon here...
it is not normal... but it is beautiful...

The Fish must be running on the Anchor River because the fisherman are lined up on the highways and down in the Anchor River Park... they were almost combat fishing....
And the smiles on the faces show they are catching not just fishing!
Steelhead and Dolly Varden are the catch of the day...
Steelhead are catch and release but the Dolly's you can keep...

Let Sleeping Moose Lay...
I noticed something in the yard this morning.... the sun wasn't quite up yet...but there was no mistaking those big Creatures curled up snoozing in the yard... It was too dark to get a picture and I didn't want to wake them up either.... Everyone needs a little rest.....
I waited patiently till the sun was finally up enough to give us a little light... the mother was stirring and she knew I was there and watching... so I took the picture thru the door so I wouldn't disturb them...

We had a visitor finally..... Moose season ends today and look who showed up! Nibbling on the willows and trees in the yard...walking right down the driveway like he didn't have a care in the world...
Whew made it thru another season... this guy is not very old... probably a year or more...
would have been a legal one... so I am glad he is still standing!

Nothing like watching the sun go down in a blaze of red and purple and blue clouds and steam from Mt Redoubt... It is always a wonderment to watch such a beautiful sunset...
Never fails to amaze me the beauty of the sky and the glory of the combination of colors and clouds!
We have had such a beautiful summer and now Fall... Would be hard to be anything but happy right now!

Homer's Own Dick Synhorst
Today is one of our best friends birthday... sadly He won't be here to share it with us...
He died March 16th 2008 from chronic leukemia...
Dick was full of life.. he was robustly healthy and hard working... whether he was selling real estate or mowing his lawn he put everything into it... He and his partner Tom quit Real Estate to develop land and they loved it... quite a pair those two... they earned their nick names.... the "Dirt Dogs"

Okay I was feeling bad for that moose that wasn't a moose at all ...
Just a cute loveable creature made for decoration...
So I thought I would share this picture of a moose who was in my yard last year
Not the best picture I have ever taken but one of the most memorable....
It was the middle of June around 10 pm... still light out
She made her way into the yard and laid down...
then she got back up and stomped around and laid back down.
She was pregnant and ready to give birth...

Moose season is almost over... so for right now the only moose I have in yard is my little buddy....
She came home with me from Denali one year and has made her home here....
So as soon as the hunting season is done we will see some of our moose friends... but for now...
We will just enjoy these Beautiful fall days at our Home Camp!

Have you ever heard of the walk score for cities? They look at many factors to decide this .... Walk score basically measures how easy it is to walk to nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks and of course art shops and such! I put in Bay Realty's address 331 E Pioneer Ave Homer Alaska and it was 94 out of 100! That makes us a Walkers Paradise!

We are the world ... we are the children... Remember this event? All these extremely talented and famous people came together to create a song to help the children....The stars were told to leave their egos at the door... they created a beautiful song and raised a lot of money..... of course it was not enough... it is never enough....
Wouldn't it be nice if Congress could leave their egos at the door and start working together? Wouldn't that really be good for all of us in every way?
