Bayview Library

If you haven't had the opportunity to drive by the Bayview Library on Kinnickinnic, I would highly recommend you take a trip over there. The building itself is worth the trip, but once inside the materials and resources make the trip well worth it. A birght and airy environment flooded with light was created by the creative use of glass. Anyone appreciating modern architecture will be in awe of this building.

The Bayview Library, which replaced the Llewellyn Library, was opened in October of 1993. Sadly, I didn't come across the building until a few years ago, and at that time I still thought the building was ahead of it's time. The library is approximately 15,000 sq feet of fiction, non-fiction, reference materials, computers, story time, conference rooms and more. This was a tremendous expansion from the form 632 sq ft of the Llewellyn.

The developers of this project obviously saw the future growth of the Bayview area that we are now experiencing. Bayview has become a hotspot for first-time buyers, small shops and boutiques, families and many more people looking for affordable living close to the lake and also Downtown.

I would highly recommend getting over to the library, check out the architecture and maybe even check out a few classics or new books you were looking for.

Bay View Library
2566 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.
Milwaukee, WI 53207 (414) 286-3019

Monday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Waterbottles-a good marketing idea?

Ok so I switched companies and am trying to get my name out there as much as possible...so during my soccer game the other night I was thinking how to target this age group/demographic without creating something too disposable(i'm a big greenie) and I came up with water bottles! The one below is the one i decided on...but wanted to get some people's ideas...do you think it's money well spent or a waste? also can you think of a slogan I can put on there? any ideas are greatly appreciated!

First Time Buyers

I love working with First-time buyers! The excitement and enthusiasm they have is great. I love being able to educate these buyers on the market and on Real Estate in general. I also enjoy being a part of what is usually the biggest investment they've made so far.

I just started working with a new couple that is looking to purchasetheir first home. They are excited yet very smart about their purchase. They have researched their options, been pre-approved, and KNOW what they want and are REALISTIC about their expectations all at the same time. We've been out looking at homes for a couple of days now and will be finding something soon. They are smart buyers in todays market-they do not want to see every house on the market just because it's on the market and in their price range...we have a list of criteria that they are looking for and they are very good at not getting caught up in the "well maybe we can look past everything..." In the end that always leads to a letdown and frustration-no need to show them something they won't like.

Is now the best time to buy?

More and more I am asked this question-well...honestly if you are asking yourself this-I have some questions for you?

Now can definitely be the best time to buy for you if...

- You have your finances in order

-You have a good Credit score

-You can afford to purchase a home and/or you know how much you can afford

-You are looking to make an investment for your future

-You have spoken with a Lender and are pre-approved

-You are realistic about buying a home(no home is going to be perfect!)

-You are working with a REALTOR

After all of questions are answered, many people I talk to realize either-this is the best time for them to buy or they need to do some more research to prepare themselves to buy a home.

So much of the question "Is now the best time to buy" ultimately depends on the buyer and their situation. It is the best time to buy when the buyer is prepared and ready to buy!!!!

Are you a believer-St. Joseph Statues Assisting Homeowners

As a Real Estate Agent I am always looking for additional ways to sell my clients' homes. I heard about the St. Joseph Statues awhile ago from a Seller who had heard about them from a friend. I went to our local Realtor store and low and behold THEY SELL THE STATUES. They were very inexpensive I might add.

I have since bought them for many of my sellers who believe and are looking for that little added something to help their home sell.

For those of you who aren't familiar-these statues are like the one pictured and are meant to be buried in the sellers yard. There are many different beliefs on how you are supposed to go about burying them, upside down, backyard, front yard, how deep, whether you dig it up once your house sells and so on....

For any of you out there who are selling your house and believe, I think it's worth a shot-every little bit can help!

Danielle Lussier

Mentors

After some serious thought and reflection this past year in Real Estate and Staging, I realized one of the main things missing in my team is a mentor-which is HUGE. Our company has a training program that gets you off of the ground, but the lack of follow up and mentoring has been something that is upsetting me.

This immediately made me think of AR. There are so many great posts daily and the support on here is amazing. I have been on other message boards where people just rip you apart if they don't agree with you, but here there's criticism, but it's constructive criticism-which is what is needed for someone to grow.

anyways finally getting to my topic-who out there has found a great mentor and/or how did you find them? is it better to have a local mentor or does that not make a difference?

thanks!

There's a feature in July's Realtor Magazine about Home Staging. Something to take a look at. I think that it's great that it's in this mag and featured on the cover, hopefully it will help more agents realize the value of staging!

Taking the leap-but afraid to fall short

Ok, so I have an internal dilemna that i've been dealing with and recently found Active Rain and think i will be able to get some great advice. I have my BFA in Interior Design and recently obtained my Real Estate license. I would love to start staging homes, yet am running into a couple of barriers....

1. I have found that many people do not take me seriously due to my age-I'm 25 years old. They tend to treat me like their daughter.

2. When I do find someone who is willing to potentially stage. I'm not sure how much to charge and do not have the funds to rent furniture and build up an inventory at the moment.

3. Plays along with #1. When I suggest to a client that they purchase new carpeting or paint, they are very hesitant and tend to second guess me because of my age.

I want to break into the Home Staging field and utilize all of my talents, yet need some guidance-any one out there willing to lend a hand?
