In a recent discussion with some agents in my area about the recent state of the Connecticut Home Foreclosure market, I wanted to find out how Connecticut ranked relative to what has been taking place nationally.

According to the latest report furnished by RealtyTrac  for August 2008, Connecticut is ranked #17 nationally with a total of 1,798 foreclosure filings which consists of notices of default, auctions and bank owned properties.

Taking a cue from a post by Lenn Harley I decided I should research the status of my market for short sales, foreclosures and REO properties.
While Connecticut has not been hit as harshly with a declining market as there are in other parts of the country, we are starting to see more foreclosures and short sales in recent months.
