The Sky Was On Fire With Color In Morris Cove New Haven CT One of my favorite times of the day living in Morris Cove is being able to view the spectacular sunsets blazing with color at the Pardee Seawall and at Lighthouse Point Park. Driving home this afternoon from a listing appointment the sun was just beginning to set and it looked like the sky was on fire. The colors in this sunset were just so beautiful on the horizon along the water that I just had to stop and take some pictures of it.

Call it a snow storm, blizzard or Nor'easter this one had to be one of the biggest storms I can remember in recent years in the Morris Cove area. This morning you couldn't find a car, a truck or even a snow plow driving on the roads. Around my street you didn't even see anyone outiside shoveling until after 10:00am.

It was a wonderful day for the Pardee-Morris House in Morris Cove New Haven CT. The public open house which was scheduled for September 27th was rained out and rescheduled for today.
Since 2000 the Pardee-Morris House has been closed to the public due to lack of funds but restoration work has been ongoing for the past few months so it could be opened again on a limited basis.

On Sunday, September 27, 2009 there will be an open house at the Pardee-Morris House for the East Shore neighborhood from 1:00-4:00 pm.
The Pardee-Morris House located at 325 Lighthouse Road in the neighborhood of Morris Cove in New Haven CT has not been open to public since 2000. A combined effort by Morris Cove neighbors and the East Shore Management Team has helped to bring about the comeback of this historic treasure.

We have definitely hit the dog days of summer over the past couple of weeks with the high temperatures and humidity we've been experiencing along the Southern Connecticut shoreline.
The cool ocean breezes that flow through the neighborhood of Morris Cove in New Haven CT has helped to lessen that heat and humidity to a bit lesser degree.
This evening my husband and I took my granddaughter to Lighthouse Point Park so we could watch the beatiful sunset this evening and take in the sights of a few boaters and jet skiers near the boat ramp.

On Friday afternoon, we were hit with a tremendously powerful thunderstorm all across the state of Connecticut. There were many areas of the state that were heavily damaged from the heavy winds and torrential downpours. Power lines went down, people and businesses lost power. trees fell into homes and there were many areas that were heavily flooded.
In its aftermath, the sun broke through and I just happened to look out my window and saw a glow in the sky and grabbed my camera to take these photos.. Mother Nature may have dealt us a heavy blow for a few hours … (7 comments)

If you're looking for a unique and antique treasure, it's time to visit The Historic Carousel at Lighthouse Point Park located on the east side of the New Haven Harbor in the community of Morris Cove.
Built in 1916 the carousel has 72 figures mounted on a 60 foot platform. Decorating the carousel are original oil paintings of New Haven local scenery along with mermaids, trains, lighthouses, sailboats and beveled mirrors.
During the 1920's there were more than 10,000 such carousels in existence but today the Lighthouse Park Carousel is less than one of a hundred still in operation.

A stone's throw away from my backyard in the Morris Cove neighborhood of New Haven is Lighthouse Park home to the historical Five Mile Point Lighthouse.
Marking the entrance to the New Haven Harbor is the Five Mile Point Lighthouse given its name for its distance from downtown New Haven.
The original lighthouse built in 1805 was a 30-foot octagonal shingled wooden tower with its light generated by eight lamps and thirteen inch reflectors.

Fort Hale named for one of Connecticut's most famous patriots and native son Nathan Hale is located on Woodward Avenue on the east shore of the New Haven Harbor in the Morris Cove New Haven CT neighborhood.
This historic site is a 20 acre city park deeded to the State of Connecticut by an act of Congress in 1921 and was then turned over to the city of New Haven to maintain.

What a great weekend it was to have fun in the sun at Lighthouse Point Park in the Morris Cove neighborhood of New Haven Connecticut.
My 6 year old granddaughter Brooke was visiting for the long weekend and living only a short distance away from Lighthouse Point Park, we decided to take a little visit to the park.
