The Tri-Cities was ranked 25th in the country for housing price appreciation in the Federal Housing Finance Agency's fourth quarter 2008 report. Tri-Cities home prices reportedly showed a 1.73 percent appreciation rate from the third quarter of 2008 to the fourth, and a 2.3 percent growth when comparing fourth quarter 2008 to the same time in 2007, according to the FHFA. Tri-Cities, Wash The mortgage meltdown isn't cooling the Tri-Cities housing market like the big freeze it is delivering in other area. A stable economy and good job market have kept the local housing market stable. Commercial and residentail development is still going strong. Average housing costs in the Tri-City market are still under $190,000. Where else in the country can you buy a newly constructed home for under $200,000.
